Huge thank yous to lyricae and tinlail for putting us up in their lovely toasty warm basement night before last. Thanks also to solarbird for the loan of the heater, although as feared, kerosene is not to be had in the area right now. And thanks to everyone who sent along some good wishes ( Read more... )

The MI schools are still open? Up here in "blow your leg off with a cannon" land, this is the first week of "winter break" or whatever they call it these days.

You wanna know FUN? We were the only one in the extended family (P's extended family, as mine is in E WA) with power, so I got to spend most of the weekend/week herding TWO seven year olds. WOOHOO kill me now

I swear they feed off of each other somehow. With their energy, they could heat the state.

I'm so glad you've all been somewhere warm and safe (and not relying on kerosene, 'cause I get all worried about carbon monoxide and house fires and stuff). I've been fretting ever since I read your post about the outage. Here's hoping the end of the ordeal is in sight.

We're back in the house now, the power came on at some point last night... R came home to pick up a few necessities to sleep at mom's and there was light, so we all trundled back and slept in our own beds. And Kathryn called 30 minutes ago and HER power just went back on, too.

Oh, dear - I didn't know hers was out, too, but given that she's been absent from LJ, I should have figured. I'm glad to hear you're all em-powered again!

Yeah, the awful thing was that her block was out, but there was power a block away as of, hm, Monday? And mom's neighborhood was out, though there was power 2 blocks away as of Friday... we were all in little pockets that were taking an extra long time. :-(
