New in the past week or so are solid foods (he goes after that rice cereal like nobody's business, squash not so much of a hit) and not immediately toppling over when sitting unsupported. Conor's godparents, Brian and Fong, have a four month old in addition to a two year old.

I found out two things yesterday:

1) I have not lost the "Mommy Dance" that stops fussing cold, and
2) It's really awesome to give the kid back after 15 minutes.

The idea of baby binary fills me with joy. Details? (I'm picturing counting to 4 using arm up/arm down as 1/0, if that makes sense.)

Arms and legs, so there are 16 states. We do left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg for 1, 2, 4, 8 respectively. 15 is thus HUGE fun with all appendages in the air. :-)

and you have to do 3,12,3,12,3,12 a lot, perhaps interspersed with alternations of 5 & 10 -- or maybe 6 & 9 even if that sometimes requires more dexterity than I actually have -- and of course the obligatory, periodic surprise "FIFTEEN!"s.

and then there's the Roll, Pitch, and Yaw Game.

If he falls asleep on my lap during the day, I can shift his position pretty well, but if I put him down, he'll wake up, and then comes the misery.

I remember that. I still encounter it when the Boy Wonder is asleep during a drive, then the car stops and as soon as a door is opened and his seatbelt is unfastened: EYES OPEN I'M AWAKE BOLT FOR THE DOOR.
