Lately Pip's been really interested in airplanes. If he hear one overhead, he'll say "airplane" and look for it and watch it go by. When we got his hair cut at the new kid-haircut-place, he found an airplane in the bucket-o-toys and clung to it for the whole cut (he did REALLY well for the haircut. Next time we'll try the wash, too ( Read more... )

I don't blame Pip one bit; I LOVE watching the Blue Angels!

Our beach house is down in Pensacola, FL, where their home-base is so my brothers and I grew up watching the Angels fly as we played on the beach or swam in the ocean. They are just amazing.

Hello, Emma, would you mind if I friended you? We've met over at tatting, and I've used some of your patterns. Today I found myself wondering how you were getting on, as I had read the odd entry before, and read twenty entries with interest...and felt I'd enjoy reading regularly. I am explaining because it's spooky when someone just friends without introducing themselves.

Sure! I don't think it's all that fascinating around here, but it's fun to meet new people.

Last summer you commented that Pip had a lot of trouble with the Angels' flyovers, so I'm very happy for you. It sounds like he gets now where the loud noises are coming from, which probably helps.

Yeah, and a couple of years ago we were at a BBQ on Beacon Hill and he had real issue with the commercial flights overhead, so this is a huge step forward for him. His coping skills have just grown so much.

When I was a kid, we lived underneath the final approach for Oceana Naval Air--and all the Blue Angels shows happened above our neighborhood. It was awesome. The most awesome thing was the time a Blue Angel flew down our street.

I dated 2 aeronautical engineers ina row. One with a penchant for EAA (experimental aircraft) and so I am a big supporter of watching all that stuff.. But it IS loud.. and so hearing Pip is taking it much better makes me smile. I see a lot of plane stuff for the next coupla months. :)
