Registration for the Madrona Fiber Arts winter retreat starts this Monday morning.
kathrynt have decided we really want to do
class(es) this year. Of course many I want to take are offered at the same time, and I don't think I can realistically do four full days of classes, so I'm dithering a lot.
Th-Fri there's a 2-day class co-taught by Nancy Bush and Judith MacKenzie McCuin, "Hand Coverings: The Art of Mittens and Gloves."
huaman suggests this is a must-take, and I'm inclined to agree.
Other things I'd like to take those days: Lucy Neatby's "Cool Socks" on Thursday, Syne Mitchell's "Weaving for Beginners" on Friday. Kathryn Alexander's 2-day workshop is intriguing, but less so than these others, and she's got two shorter classes that would give a taste of her style.
Saturday: Nancy Bush again, with an all-day class on two-end knitting. this seems like a technique well suited to learning visually as opposed to from a book. Judith MacK-McC's "Wild Texture" also sounds interesting, as does the Kauni hat class in the afternoon with Ruth Sorensen or the 3-hour Kathryn Alexander entrelac class.
Sunday: Yet more Nancy Bush with Estonian lace, or Judith MacK-McC with a fine yarn class in the morning and an afternoon sock yarn class. Susanna Hansson's Stripes class seems oddly appealing. Or six hours of Kathryn Alexander.
Anyhow, yeah. I don't think we can realistically spend four days away from the babies, and scheduling four solid days of classes probably isn't that wise, either. But I can daydream for now.
