reliable blood glucose monitors?

My mom's baseline fasting BG level has been ~99 for something like a couple of decades. The guideline for "pre-diabetic" has moved down so now they're worried about it, and sent her home with a monitor to do tests. 99 is prediabetic????? my hubs is diabetic... and when I talk to the doctor... he says hubs... and myself (non diabetic) should be between 80 and 110......

this was a bit of news to me

It certainly hadn't been for the last thirty or so years it's been part of her physical, but in the last 5 years all of a sudden her doctors are all in a tizzy over it. Might be this physician's office follows a more rigorous standard? I don't know.

I'm bumfuzzled.... no research I have ever seen or any info I have ever heard from doctors support this at all... I am not sure but that you might want to consult another doctor....??

Correction: Kevin's previous meter was a OneTouch. His current one is a FreeStyle Flash. The OneTouch was fine, but he likes the FreeStyle a bit better because it's faster and can read a smaller drop of blood.

I like my Freestyle Flash better than my old One Touch Ultra, too. Freestyle takes less blood and I find it to be more accurate. She needs to make sure she's coding it correctly though. That could be the problem.
