so tired of being sick.

After the winter of half-a-dozen colds, I got to have the Spring Break of Gastric Distress (all I can say is thank goodness zoos and amusement parks have bathrooms EVERYWHERE). And now I have strep -- last night my fever shot up from 100 to 103 in two hours, whereupon I took 600 mg of advil and watched it continue to climb. After 2 hours of chills ( Read more... )

Oh man, that sounds terrible. I definitely sympathize -- I tend to get strep very easily, and sometimes very badly (I had the full-body-wince pain of which you speak, about 6 years ago when I had strep so badly that the little buds left where they took out my tonsils 40 years ago swelled up to roughly the size of normal tonsils. My doctor said, "Oh. Oh MY!" when she realized just what she was seeing). Usually the antibiotics start really whomping up on it within about 36 hours; I hope that's the case for you and you wake up feeling substantially improved in the morning.

I'd like to know why they never seem to give antibiotic injections anymore. When I was a kid and went in with this sort of thing I *always* got a shot, in addition to the 10-day course of pills, and while I hated it, it surely did jumpstart the recovery process.

I was just wondering that (about the shots) myself! I just got over a horrible bout of strep and begged for a shot; she just said that's not how they do it anymore. :P

The trick for making vicodin work for you is to drink a lot of fluids with it. Apparently, it won't distribute through your body as well if you aren't well hydrated.

That's miserable! I hope you feel better soon...the antibiotics made mine noticably better within 36 hours.

Take care of yourself, lady--rest and liquids, 'kay? :)

*hug*

I am sure the antibiotics aren't helping your digestive system. Try to find some acidophilus (a refrigerated kind). It should help. *hugs* and I hope you start feeling better soon! :(
