Eeeeh, as a horror fanatic (yeah I've crossed the line of just fan to fanatic) not sure why I subject myself to them. XD Masters of Horror was sooo hit and miss. My favourite episodes of it were the Black Cat redo of Edgar Allan Poe's story (which was kind of awesomely done in period) and that one in which the dude is a serial killer and makes people a part of his family by killing them and soaking their bodies in acid until they are just bones then he dresses them up blah blah blah (actually had a good twist). But really, the zombies just wanna vote not eat brains one? WTF? I hate when horrors are clearly trying to be political and fail. I actually really love when they touch on deep dark human nature bits that mean something, but this was just baaaaad and so apparent it wasn't even fun. D: Half the fun of movies with a point to me is figuring out the point. I guess I'd say Masters of Horror was okay overall, and it was mostly filmed in Vancouver so it was kind of fun going "HEY I KNOW THAT PLACE ROFL!" XD Ughgh I actually devoured the series though. It was at that time when I made this comment to Will "I've seen more gauged out eyes than I'd like to count..." and he said I should lay off horror for a while, hahah.
Anyways, started watching "Fear Itself" online. It came out on NBC last summer, hurray awful summer programming! At least it's not reality tv though. So far kind of bland. Haven't watched much of it yet, but I will cuz I haven't watched any remotely spooky in a while. I've been hitting up the library and all they really have for "scary" is Child's Play, and that damned doll is more annoying than anything else. Though, the original was pretty much the best one. OMG I remember bride of chucky. I rofl'd like the entire time, but I actually think that was kind of the point with that. They have Hitchcock as well, but he is more thriller, than scary/horror. Birds was pretty sweet! I was pretty amazed by the effects they used for it considering it was a 1960 something film. XD
Been too long since a good old horror classic! I did download "Mum and Dad" this really sick BBC (surprisingly) funded indie horror flick and it was so fucked up. A husband/wife abduct kids. Dad likes to straight up kill them and do sick things to their bodies after (ie: really gross scene in which the "family" watches him in a chair- we see his back only thank GOD - jerk off into a liver of a girl who he just killed, close up of the liver and cum totally shown!!!! omfg), while mum likes to keep them around and play with them (ie: scarification, torture, uses them as like pretend children..) so they all end up acting like a family in this sick way. Some parts were so over-the-top serial killer cliche (like watching porn at the breakfast table) that it didn't really feel real. I know it's not real, but ...I think I'm so "jaded" (as Will would say XD) that for me to be totally disturbed or get a real thrill out of it, it has to be more subtle and have a more real quality to it. This movie though pretty well proves to me that foreign films are so much more fucked up than anything American or mainstream. Gawwwwd. Martrys is still my all time favourite of the year though, holy cow. It was a real trip.
And I've trailed off into gorey oblivion XD Needless to say, I feel pretty isolated in this uh, interest of mine, lol. Really, nobody will watch horrors with me! D:
