The good thing about you post Em is that you learned this now at your age, and not 20 years from now. That is a great thing, and you will learn from this and grow. I know what you mean about Cedar Creek. We visited there and I had expectations, and they were shot down by none other then God. They are His people too, trying to reach others for HIM.

You definitely convicted me on this post, Emily!

I am often caught slandering the "charismatic" or the "seeker" churches.

I may not agree with their methods/sincerity/knowledge, but these places DO bring people to Christ.

Just as Berean built a good knowledge foundation - it did not build a good excitement for Christ and reaching the lost.

Cedar Creek builds a great desire to reach out but may not go deeper.

We all have a lot to learn from our sister denominations. Every church lacks because we do not use all of the fruits of the Spirit.

Thanks for posting. I need to watch my stinking mouth.

Cedar Creek is one of many churches in the area that follow the kinds of things Willow Creek in Illinois began many years ago. Our church is so similar, our new building (the new construction southwest of exit #1 on US 23) was designed by the same architect who did Cedar Creek and has many of the same concepts.

Churches managed in the aspect of Willow Creek, such as ours at Crossroads, have many underlying concepts that can't be seen in a single visit. Small groups, youth ministries, children's churches ... there are many things under the surface that push forward while looking back to build a solid foundation.

And yes, there are many churches for many needs. As long as your heart is where it should be, where and how you worship is up to you. God knows who you really are inside anyway.
