Title:  Promises

Rating:  PG

Setting:  Canon for pre-9x09.  This is set around Christmas of this year, but pretend Bailey’s wedding never happened.

Prompt:  Mer and Der throw a Christmas party this year at their new house and Callie finally convinces Arizona to go (after many, many attempts). They bring Sofia and she plays with Zola while her parents

Well done (and I'm jealous that you were able to whip it off so quickly :D).

I loved this (made me chuckle 'cuz I so can hear them saying it):

“But I’m not going to have any fun,” Arizona adds.
“That’s the spirit!”

And this I wish they would've said it on the show:

Yeah, I used to see amputations all the time in Iraq. It doesn’t make the person less of a person, you know that.”
“I do know that, but I’m not sure Arizona does,” Callie responds sadly.

Thanks! Haha I was only able to do it because I HAD to. I had to just keep telling myself that I wasn't allowed to start it during my exams.

I love the opening scene of this fic. The dialogue and the emotions they are portraying are perfectly in tune with their characters.

“I do look at you. Every day. And I see so much beauty, both inside and out. I see my wonderful wife, the loving mother of our adorable daughter.” Callie takes Arizona’s hands in hers and glances around the room. “Teddy over there sees her best friend when she looks at you. She sees the woman who hoodwinked her into being her friend but then wormed her way into her heart and made an indelible mark. Meredith and Derek see a great surgeon and the mother of their daughter’s playmate. The interns…well, the interns can’t see anything past their own nose,” Callie concedes. She waits for Arizona to giggle quietly before continuing. “Alex, despite his rough exterior, sees a mentor, the only mentor who has been able to tame him. He owes you his life and his career, and he knows it. That’s what he sees

Eek! I'm so sorry it took me a while to get to reply to this; I've barely been on a computer in over a week. (Also sorry at how RIDICULOUSLY long that prompt was. Wow. Especially compared to the other prompts out there. >.< I didn't realize until seeing it in your C_A post.)

But you did an awesome job with it! :D Thank you sooo much. I loved seeing Teddy again; it was such a shame Kim Raver left the show when she did. Teddy would've been a big influence in Arizona's recovery, I suspect. And the Callie/Arizona dynamic in this was great. Like englishstrawbie said above, this is the Callie i've been longing to see since September. <3

No apologizing! I totally understand the not being around a computer thing. I don't think I realized how long it was until I saw it posted there haha. I kind of liked the detailed prompt, because when there was no inspiration, I just had to look to the prompt! :-P
