I like your take on this.

There will be several more including my own.

I will read the ones that respect both of them because I loved Calzona( I feel the need to iuse past tense though in fact there is nothing past about it) but there is no Calzona without Callie and none without Arizona either.

I won't read any that blame the other 100% Or assassinate the characters. I'm glad therefore that yours is the first I've read.

Well done. here is to a happy and successful Arizona and a happy successful Callie.

My heart is still broken all the same

This is WOW!
"Callie remembers the declarations Arizona used to make .... But now, there are no declarations, only please" - OH MY GOODNESS I didn't realize this until I read it. That is so true, and it's really rather sad, but it's also so eye-opening and this break is something that they both need.

Thank you for this. :)

Callie remembers the declarations Arizona used to make: I like the girl who has the sandwiches; I'm a good man in a storm; the word I use is awesome; I love you and you love me and none of the rest of it matters.

But now, there are no declarations, only pleas. This is not the Arizona she met five years ago. Callie watches Arizona speak, the words falling from her beautiful lips. She is weaker than before. Her words are desperate and her tone is unsure.

She doesn't allow herself to entertain the notion that maybe they'll find their way back to each other. She knows if she thinks about her future, she won't go through with ending it.

All of this. You capture the heartbreak very well. I like the inclusion of Callie's past to build up to her decision.

Great work. i do hate myself for saying great work, but that's no reflection on your writing, more the subject matter.

I think for me you've explained Callie's perspective very well. Unlike some I don't believe that Callie knew this would be the outcome of their temporary break until she heard what Arizona said in the therapists office. That's what makes this story so sad. Arizona was pleading with Callie. And Callie ultimately set her free.

The ultimate act of love right?

I say again, great work.
