It took three days before Ethan was able to find a way past the Council warding, as well as the extra security they had placed over Ripper. He had worked out how to penetrate the shields in two, but spent an extra day making sure he could seal them back behind him. He wanted no unexpected interruptions.

He found Ripper asleep in a well-equipped ( Read more... )

Yay! Well done you. I still say this is an excellent fic (but I get to say it in public now. *g*)

I just love all those twists and turns in the plot. :-)

Thanks so much! Funny how it's a bit easier to visualize now that the setting doesn't change EVERY time it's mentioned, thanks to you.

Welcome to the world of posted fics! So pleased to read the final version of this excellent story. The dialogue is the stand-out, I could listen to those two talking all night :-)

Aww, thank you!

Man, if I'd known that press-ganging beta-ees into beta-ers was such a fun and emotionally rewarding pastime, I woulda started long ago. Avast!

Oh, this is *grand*! Beautiful characterisation and dialogue, and so very clever! I loved the twists, and really couldn't tell whose side Ethan was on (or *thought* he was on) there at the end. Typical Ethan, and typical Giles, brilliant even when he's on his last legs, poor thing. The descriptions were very vivid, and I was right there with them. Nothing to be added or taken away - just perfect. Thank you so much for taking part. :-))

I'm so glad you liked it! If you do figure out which side Ethan thought he was on, be sure and let me know.

Thanks so much for putting the ficathon together. It's like Christmas...Christmas where all the presents are badly mangled Gileses...um, hrmm, maybe not the best analogy.

LOL!!! Yes, I know what you mean. *g* And I've just hurled myself into writing another h/c story - the one that was going to be my backup, should 'Negative Space' fail!

Thanks! I have another piece in the works (I started it for NaNoWriMo last year, and it's conceivable I might finish it for this No.)

*applause* Oh, wonderful! I absolutely love how you have Giles and Ethan dancing around each other, crossing and double-crossing. Marvelous!

Thank you so much -- it's been a breakthrough year for me and plot/structure, so I'm really pleased that it seems to have worked out on the reader's side.
