The premise of red eyes

I propose the following theory:

Just because someone's eyes begin glowing red doesn't mean that they're thirty seconds away from ripping your heart out through your kneecaps.

It might, however, mean that somebody's strobing a camera flash in their eyes, and they're going blind.
