Hi!  I've more or less disappeared for a couple of months, during which I have learned that:

1)  It's easy to be a terrible grad student and still ace a class. Oh, institution of higher education. I remember when I respected you.  *sigh*
2)  Digging out my Facebook account means 100 of my very best friends have suddenly rediscovered my existence ( Read more... )

Hi! I've missed you! :)

I didn't know that those were persimmons. They look like tomatoes. Actually...what is a persimmon? Is it in the orange family... I have no idea?

I feel much the same about celeb meetups, but they're so cute! You have to meet them.

I sat through the Ting Tings as the opening act for a Pink Concert and they were...really quite awful and cacophonous. Yet that song is catchy...and that vid is win.

Hi you! I've missed being on here and talking to you too!

Every single person who's seen them, even if they live here near where I picked them, has told me what odd looking tomatoes I had. ;) Google is telling me that the name means "fruit of the gods", and I dunno, the kind I have are extremely messy and pulpy, eating them when they're hard makes you mouth pucker and feel like cotton. But delicious in baked things.

So. Excited. !!!

And yeah, I've never been able to sit through another song by them, but it's just so gleeful in that way Leverage has. In context, I adore it a lot. (I think there's a Smallville vid about Clark too, which I remember being awesome.)

Hi Emme! I was wondering where you went. One moment you were making a Kara vidlet and the next I think that grad school swallowed you up!

Glad you're back! And gosh, I don't think I've ever had a persimmon before. What does it taste like?

Everything swallowed me up, but I am determined that the Kara vidlet will happen when I sit down to make things again. I'm sort of beating back the idea backlog, because that way leads to indecison and me never making anything at all. ;)

Persimmon's taste sort of...squishy. And very pulpy and sweet with the kind I have. I'll probably end up doing a lot of canning and making sweet Christmas-y things with them. :D

I'm glad you're okay! I was just wondering where you went the other day. *hugs* Life can get kind of overpowering like that.

The Einstein Rainbow picutre is amazing, and I am totally gonna have to add Ted Talks to my reading habits too, pretty much because I recognised the name from popping up before half a dozen amazing videos I'd seen on youtube but embarrassingly never worked out I should go looking for more of them. *facepalm*

Thanks for the awesome rec! And also, I fail, because until about a week ago, I DID NOT KNOW there were three more episodes this season (which explains why I thought the "season finale" was a bit un...finale-like and disappointing in that way) let alone that they start tomorrow!

Thanks for the absolutely lovely rec. <3

And you know, glad you're doing okay even if life is pretty busy right now!

Thank you *hugs* It can, even if I've decided mine is mostly a sort of ok overpowering all things considered, except for when it keeps me from doing things I want to on here ( ... )

I agree, the only question is which Janelle Monae icon to snag. I'd been contemplating making one of my own (which is not a particularly good plan) so this is timely.

I'm getting close I think, and it handily fufills both my need for more Janelle Monae AND a music icon, which I lack.

3. I thought those were odd looking tomatoes. :D

Come chat with us tonight?

TRICIA. KATEE. Think I may just skip NYC and go to Texas instead. Hell, the con website is rather unhelpful with travel info.

They would make a extremely surprising pasta sauce. ;)

And yes! My sis is staying with me tonight, so I'll probably miss a bit, but I was glad to see you were having one.

I don't know that they really expect anybody to be all excited to come to Plano for this one, but it's really sad that there's not more there, even links to other things to visit in the region which, I mean has two major cities and 6 million people after all. Fail, site.

They don't even link to any hotels. Sheesh. I get they don't have a host hotel but usually cons link to nearby ones even if they don't have an official rate.

They need to hurry and put tickets on sale.

Cool. No rush, we'll be around late I'm sure.
