a reason to be excited about 2012
This is a test of LJ's video posting abilities today. :)
But mostly, a trailer for Korra! I CANNOT WAIT.
Could the trailer be prettier? I still can't believe it won't be out until next year, but knowing that they're going to making it this gorgeous helps make the wait easier and I'd probably watch for this alone. Also, Holy Industrial Revolution, Batman! Progress apparently moves fast when the Fire Nation isn't bent on conquering and subjugating the other nations.
I basically adore everything shown here though: SCENERY SHOTS, Korra's polar bear-dog, Korra showing everyone who's boss and causing property damage in fine superhero tradition, etc. From the trailer and elsewhere on the internet, I love the idea of bending tournaments, though I'm a little sad that Korra's new Team Avatar so far has only boys which I suspect is partly so they can set up another relationship triangle. (And lo, the internets have already run with this. :) And, whatever, I'm more interested in the fact that they're brothers, but different kinds of benders and one of them has a Red Panda Ferret, so I'm just going to mark it "thing I care least aboutt" and move on because I'll probably like them both anyway.
In things that I'm most excited about though: CHIEF BEI FONG! You guys, Toph traveled the world teaching metal-bending and had a daughter who's now a COP, ensuring that this version of Avatar has at least one (clearly badass) older woman in the main cast. And of course I love the idea that Toph's daughter grows up to be an authority figure and keeper of order in the first place.

I'm thrilled to see that Tenzin's family and wife Pema are being emphasized too, so maybe functional families with fewer dead/disappeared mothers too, yes? They sound adorable. The anti-bending antagonists also look interestingly creepy and right now there's really very little about this series that doesn't sounds amazing, except for the part where I can't watch it yet. It's already the show I think I've talked the most about before it even comes out and has a lot of potential to be as good as the original series, but full of EVEN MORE THINGS I LOVE.
