Keeping my fingers crossed for you, that it will show to be something minor. I'm glad you have an appointment already on Monday!

yes, thank you! I'm sure it's minor as well. It runs in the family. It was just an unsettling diagnosis for a friday afternoon.

I have several thyroid nodules. Went through a whole big drama over it--multiple blood tests and ultrasounds and thryoid scans--and was really freaked out, but they turned out to be benign and not malfunctioning. I just have to get ultrasounds every couple years to check on 'em.

And girl, a cancerous nodule is soooo rare. And even if you turn out to be hyper or hypo thyroid (which doesn't sound like the case), it's easily treatable and not too big of a deal.

I hope it works out! I'm sure it will.

Thanks for your reassurance, meg. I know that this is a very common condition in young women, and my mother had it so, it figgers I'd join the Thyroid Club eventually.

I have tons of nodules in my thyroid. I've done two biopsies and I am fine. Thyroid surgery is pretty non risk if there is an issue though. I would go get checked, but for now try not too worry too much. Something like 1/5 of American women have thyroid issues.

did the biopsies hurt? I am seeing a surgeon on Monday. They're doing an upscan, biopsy, etc.

Thanks for the reassurance.

they use a local anesthetic so it doesn't hurt, but it does feel weird. just like someone poking you in the neck basically. They last like 2 seconds though.

You are sore afterwards for about a day. I also typically feel like there is an apple in my throat for a day or two of days.
