There are flies in my unit. It started with one, whom I skooshed. Then today there were like four flying around. Grr! So I sprayed the whole place with tea-tree oil infused water to slow 'em down. I tried to catch them, but they were too crafty ( Read more... )

For fruit flies, I use an old yogurt container filled with balsamic vinegar, sugar, and water. The smell attracts them, and they eventually go for the dive. Imagine the perverse pleasure I get from seeing a bunch of dead fruit flies on the bottom a week later...

That's a good idea - though these are big flies - does it work with them, too?

It wouldn't hurt to try (unfortunately, I used most of a twenty dollar bottle of balsamic - oops). I don't think the large flies are 'dumb' enough though - I didn't catch any big ones with the one that I had. Have you tried flypaper?

I might try a no-pest strip. You hang it up somewhere, and within an hour of entering, flying bugs are dead. Kinda like poision, but it's a natural one. I'll be moving soon, so hopefully it's not going to be a problem at my new place ^ ^;;

Thanks for the tips!

At this time of year, the flies seem really "retarded," and for all practical language applications, they are. It happens to the best insects as the days get short and the weather cools ( ... )

It could not have been said better.

Today, as I finish off this poetry project, I think of many tims in my life when I have cried for joy and sorrow at the same time. I feel blessed that I have the ability to do that, for I no some who cannot.

I still get excited about the 'non pain' beauty. Just yesterday I had so much fun getting wet in puddles on the way home, and the sky was just... striking. Purple and green and grey. I.e. like the sky so often is at this time of year. But it still made me laugh.

Well, I've done the dishes and cleaned the counter, so that should help. I should probably go google flies and see what I can find out. For instance, if I knew were / how they breeded, I could make sure I don't have such an environment avaialable. Though I think, to a certain extent, some bugs are inevitable =P
