I had a public speaking course at Bay College in Escanaba last June. One of our assignments was to write a speech compelling somebody to take some kind of action. One of the other students wrote her speech compelling people to go to church, if I remember correctly. She said that people who go to church have higher moral and social quality that those who don't, make more ethical decisions, etc., because they have something to base it on. I objected, asking her if she thought atheists couldn't have just as good, if not better, moral quality than theists, and also asked her what sources she had to back up these claims she was making. She, of course, had none.
