Looking hot when it's cold

I'm going to Seattle, USA next week for work. Apparently it's cold there. I got the agenda today and one of the evenings includes a cocktail reception. What are you supposed to wear to a cocktail function when it's sub-arctic conditions? A frock with a bomber jacket? Hrm. Ugg boots are probably not going to cut it either, much to my sadness

omigosh u live in seattle!#@$@$%$! I only realised that when I read your last entry just now on my friends page. Ha! I'm going to Redmond. I have no idea about anything there, so any hot tips about 'must see' places please tell me! Not sure how much I will get away, but I at least have most of a Saturday to do as I please.

I can't believe you said it's not that cold right now. I was looking at the weather forecasts and your current temperatures are way colder than we ever get in winter where I live. I'm such a sook when it comes to cold weather, but I'm now counting on the hope that everything will be toasty due to heating while I'm there.

Thanks for the dressing hints. I need to strike a happy medium between what to take and leaving weight allowance in my luggage for shopping :-) (if I get to do some!)
