Outside Flamingo [early afternoon]

Anakin? Was hungover.

Anakin? Had heard the radio broadcast.

Therefore Anakin? Not in the best mood ever.

He's out working on Alec's motorcycle--he'd had gotten it hovering now. And no, the noises it was making weren't helping his headache.

Tyler was also doing the wandering thing -- and, hey, nice bike.

"Nice," he greeted. "Is that yours?"

Tyler looked in the direction Anakin had pointed as if he could see that far, processing the place names he had never heard before. "Huh," he said wittily. "Interesting."

"Not terribly," Anakin said, turning the speeder off. "Looks like it's ready to go," he said. "I'll take it for a ride tomorrow before handing it over to Alec."

He looked at Tyler. "So how about you? Name, class, planet of origin, et cetera."

"More interesting than me," Tyler said. "I'm Tyler, I'm going to be a sophomore, and I'm from Earth. Now-Earth. Delaware."

"I've been to Delaware," Anakin said, sounding excited to contribute. "It had nice rest stations."

[tyler_gone]

Tyler grinned. "That's kind of what the state has. Rest stations and credit card companies."

He shrugged. "A few decent beaches, I guess."

"I've only been to the beach here," Anakin said. "Well, on this planet. I'm trying to see more of it before I head home at the end of the summer. Should I try to see Delaware for more than its rest stations?"

Tyler started to say yes, then shook his head. "It's only about three, four hours' drive, so it's worth it if it's the only ocean you can get to. But if you can fly? There are better places. California. Florida."

"I'm trying to get to California," Anakin said, smiling. "Sun and the ocean? Sounds good to me." He gave Tyler an apologetic shrug. "Sorry. Grew up in the desert. Water's still kind of exciting to me."

"I grew up in a port. I've never been to a real desert. It sounds ... hot. But the only reason to go to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware is if you want to see where gay people go to swim and buy fake Victorian brick-a-brack."

Tyler thought. "I've barely been to California. I'm kind of an east coast type."

Anakin made a face. "Think I can skip that, then. And yeah, the desert was hot. And sandy. And hot." He smiled. "We had two suns, so I don't think saying hot twice is entirely redundant."

"With two suns saying hot twice is justified," Tyler concurred. He wiped his forehead. "We only have one, and I want to say it twice right now."

Anakin plucked at his robe. "At home? We'd call this spring."

[tyler_gone]

"This is about as warm as it gets here," Tyler advised.

He stuck his hands back in his pockets. "Good luck with getting to California. I'll see you around."

Anakin grinned. "That's good to hear," he said. He gave Tyler a little wave. "Nice to meet you."
