-The Basics-
The basic things that everyone is dying to know!
Name: Megan, but I go by Meg
Age: Fifteen
Story behind your username: I needed a new username, and was listening to Barefoot by The Movielife. It just really fit the way that I was feeling about the time, about my exboyfriend and life in general.
Origins: Irish, English, Welsh, and Scotish. I'm a complete WASP, not that I'm proud of it. But I have grown up in New England.
Current location: My parents live in Maine, and when I'm not at school in Massachusetts I am with them.
-Your favorites-
List 5 favorites for each. Then pick one from each of those five and explain why it made the list.
Bands: Bright Eyes, The Spill Canvas, Across Five Aprils, Built to Spill, and Jack's Mannequin I am completely obsessed with Jack's Mannequin. I love Andrew McMahon's voice, and the way that piano is incorporated into both JM and Something Corporate's music stuns me. The lyrics are beautiful, and the songs often get stuck in my head all day. Not that I'm complaining.
Songs: A Year From Now- Across Five Aprils, Pop Music Of The Future- Say Hi To Your Mom, Hurricane- Something Corporate, The Tide- The Spill Canvas, and The No Seatbelt Song- Brand new. A Year From Now has been on repeat for me so much lately. It describes the way that I feel right now, and just puts every bad feeling that you have after a break-up to music. Even though it's not "typical" for Across Five Aprils, it is a gorgeous song.
Movies: Goodbye Lenin, Elephant, American Beauty, About A Boy, and The Lion King. As juvenile as The Lion King is, I still love it to death. I'm a complete Disney kid at heart, and will never grow out of it. Watching the Lion King makes me happy and sad all at once. And watching Timon do the hula is priceless.
Books: On The Road- Jack Kerouac, Speak- Laurie Halse Anderson, Franny and Zooey- JD Salinger, The Time Traveler's Wife- Audrey Niffenegger, and Running With Scissors- Augusten Burroughs. Franny and Zooey has been my comfort book for quite a while. I discovered Salinger when I read Catcher In The Rye, but it was a few months before I found Franny and Zooey. Needless to say, I enjoyed the book even more than I did Catcher. I'm sick of not having the courage to be an absolute nobody. I'm sick of myself and everybody else that wants to make some kind of a splash.
-Free Time-
Free space to tell us what you do in your free time! Make sure you don't miss this one.
Free time? Wow, what is that? I keep myself pretty busy. I work at a local movie store during the summers, and spend the school year at a small boarding school in Massachusetts, where I play Field Hockey and Softball. I am an aspiring author, and spend a majority of my "free" time writing down the abstract thoughts that infest my mind. I also love to read. All good writers were readers first. Nothing beats laying at home on a rainy day, reading a book- aside from puddle jumping after the rain has cleared. I also love taking photographs and drawing, even though I'm not as talented an artist as I wish I was. Oh how cliché. :)
-The Old Days-
Ok, so we're getting a picture of you now, but what were you like when you were younger? I was the smart kid who tended to get into trouble because of her uncontrollable mouth.
What was your favorite crayola crayon color? Razzmatazz
Tell us a funny story from when you were in elementary school: When I was in Kindergarten, we were all sitting around during circle time saying what we wanted to be when we grew up. So when it was my turn I said "My dad is an archaeologist, so I want to be a paleontologist." My teacher immediately scheduled a parent teacher conference where she confessed "I can't even spell those words."
Go dig up a baby/childhood picture (if you can): I know that I have one on this computer, but I can’t find it anywhere.
-Speak Your Mind-
Tell us your opinions on these hot button topics. Answer as completely as you can, put some time into this!
Gay Rights: I strongly support gay marriage. One of my best friends is bisexual, and after hearing all of her rants there is no way that I couldn't support it. Marriage is a bond between two people that have promised to always care, love, and cherish each other. Why should we deny two members of the same sex to be joined in this bond, when the rest of society has a divorce rate that is teetering around 50%? It makes no sense to me how you can deny a civil liberty of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" to a citizen just because they do not like members of the opposite sex. If we can't even provide these basic rights to citizens, then yeah, this country is going down faster than I thought.
Labels: Labels are a necessicary evil. I attempt to avoid using them as much as possible, but it is human nature to look at someone and judge or label them. You can try to stop it all you like, but it just will not happen. I am applying to a community called emo rejects, am I not?
George W. Bush: I am not at all fond of our current President, but I don't know how to express my feelings without coming off as an under educated teenager who is just rebelling against society. My main cause of problem with Bush is that I do not support the way that he sent our troops into war without a valid reason, and that yes, he is a Republican. Although I am too young to vote, and am independent on the political spectrum, I still disagree with his opinions and the direction in which he is sending the United States.
Straight Edge: I support the idea of straight edge, although I am not. Don't get me wrong, I could do it if I wanted to, it's not any sort of self control issue or anything, I just don't want to. I'm not an alcoholic by any means, but yes, I do drink every once in a while, and I've experimented with drugs. I know that it bothers some people, but I'm just having a little bit of fun.
Abortion: I'm pro-choice and am not going to tell any other woman that having an abortion wrong or that she will go to hell for it. I'm not certain if I was in a situation where having abortion was an option that I would do it, but it is a woman's right to choose what she does with her body.
-Emo Reject-
So why do you want to be here, and why do you belong? Let's find out!
How did you find out about emo_rejects? I don't remember how I found out about it. I was a member on my old user name, and I'm assuming that at some point this summer there was a member cut.
What made you want to apply? I wanted to re-join what was always my favorite community.
Why do you consider yourself emo? I don't wear tight pants. I don't only wear band shirts. I don't put on too much eyeliner. I do listen to emo music and am a very emotional person. I go to shows. I hang out on myspace and update my livejournal when I remember to. I do typical "emo" things like write bad poetry. I take photographs at weird angles so that I don't look so fat. I'm a normal kid who enjoys emo music.
What music do you listen to that would make emo elitists cringe? I dance around my house to the Josie and the Pussycats CD. It's sad but true.
What's your most dorky reject moment?
