Writing Meme

In between a break of doing Add Math homework, I decided that this would have been fun to answer.

1. How about a brief introduction of yourself?
I'm Amber, I'm 16 this year and yes, I'm too young to be on the internet. But that never stops me from writing porn or being asked to write it. sighs EVERYONE'S A HYPOCRITE LOL

2. And what got you into fanfiction to begin with?
I actually wasn't really fond of fanfiction before? I used to hate when people didn't know how to distinguish between original stories written online and fanfiction but I guess my first real venture into the world of fanfiction was when I was into anime and I had done some snooping on characters I liked on the Internet which eventually brought me into it. It was also a plus point when I finally found people that shipped pairings that weren't common?

3. What kind of fanfiction do you like to write?
Generally, I think my writing usually depicts my mood and I always feel like crap even when I'm happy so that usually translates to me writing angst. Sad but true. But I've always found that writing angst makes it easier for me to write as compared to crack stories that are mostly found in kfandom if you don't consider the "fandom-famous" writers. I like deep emotions and play on words and I think I'm getting off track so I'll go to the next question...

4. Do you tend to write the same pairings/characters? Or are you a fandom whore?
Not really. I can write anyone, really. Sure, I have pairings that I favour more over others but sometimes I end up writing more rare pairs than my actual OTP.

5. What is your most popular fanfic and why do you think people like it so?
EXO fandom or SJ? If it was EXO, I think "all i'm made up of" only because it was quantum suicide!au and it was different? Although I have to admit I wasn't really fond of how it come out or was written and sometimes I wish I had scrapped it and started over again or had just abandoned it. For SJ, it would have been the time when I had written my Avenger drabbles. Now those were actually quite fun and I really enjoyed thinking about all the comedic situations to put them in + character portrayals and relationships. I give credit to tees2mai for the birth of it as she and I had gushed over ideas after both watching it despite our different time zones.

6. Forget other people... what is the fanfic you've written that you're most proud of?
Aces in a Deck. It wasn't something easy to write for me considering the fact that it has been awhile since I had written a het ship and I wasn't very certain of the attitudes of the members in f(x) but it was fun to write about Victoria and her dancing, searching up events to correspond with the fic and describing Zhou Mi. And it was also probably the only time I had written 4K in such little time.

7. Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the most difficult aspects of writing?
I don't find writing hard, because there are always words going around in my head that I'm just itching it write down with on paper but I think it's putting them into proper thoughts and coherent sentences that is hard. You'll always have an idea of what to write in you head, how you want it to be executed but it never looks good enough once you write it down and to me, being able to push through despite your insecurities and the nagging voice in your head that says "Not good enough," is probably one of the hardest things about writing a story, no matter how comfortable you are with the genre, settings, fandom or characters.

8. Write a few sentences or so of your favorite pairing or character.
Because I'm lazy and my gdocs is open... Let's have a little Shizuo/Izaya from Durarara!! I hate these assholes and yes, they entirely hate each other so idk why I write this or ship them:

Shizuo doesn’t like anything about Izaya. He doesn’t like the way his lips tug up into a smirk that stings like the knife in between his fingertips, doesn’t like the casual way he walks, doesn’t like the way his eyes look at everything and everyone like potential aspects of some sort of fucked up game in his fucked up little head because as much as Shizuo himself felt like he came from the wrong end of the spectrum, Izaya was on a whole new level.

9. Are there any fanfiction trends/cliches that you're sick of?
YES. Then again, I think everyone does. I hate overused clichés. I can handle them if they're well-done or have a twist at the end but sometimes fandom has the ridiculous notion of have 9 out of 10 fics be an easily predictable plot with the most ridiculous circumstances. Also, character portrayals that are totally inaccurate and have them act totally different because yes, I know you want them together but sometimes it isn't as easily as suddenly waking up, blushing at the thought of someone else, raping them and afterwards falling in love. In that order. Realism is much appreciated, thank you. I'm pretty sure there are more but my brain isn't fully awake to tell me more.

10. Are you guilty of any of these? Or have you committed other crimes?
Clichés lol. When I was younger, I used to be a big offender of those.

11. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Do you continue to like/participate in it?
I honestly don't remember? I wrote a lot of ori stories before I switched to fanfiction. Probably something anime-related and yeah, I'm still writing for fictional characters that will never know that I exist.

12. Name your OTPs or most frequently written pairings/characters and explain what it is about them that you love to write.
Refer back to Question 4. I guess I like writing different pairings and characters because it's just a blend of different personalities and getting into the head of contrasting characters that makes it fun? It's like learning more about people you could have once hated and finding deeper meaning behind their actions and getting to understand more of their basic fundamentals.

13. What would you call your writing "style"?
I like descriptive haha. But I still think my writing style is evolving and I've gotten more used to writing dialogue in my stories as compared to when I first started out and it still felt foreign to me.

14. Do you read other people's fanfics? If so, what do you find yourself reading the most?
I do. Usually I like complicated AUs with lots of backstory. And I'm a sucker for characters that are really fucked up my mental health is fine... I think

15. Name one thing you'd LOVE to write but haven't yet.
Angst that makes people break down in tear. I'm such a sadist.

16. Do you have trouble taking criticism? Or worse yet, do you have a really bloated ego?
Criticism is good! I take what I can get to improve but with a valid reason too. AKA as long as you're not potentially flaming me with hate, I'll accept it. After all, there is always room for improvement.

17. When you write is there anything that helps? Music? Quiet room?
I usually listen to music that helps set the mood to the particular story and a comfortable position in my room or any other place in my house. Inspirational quotes or pretty pictures also kind of bring me into the mood too.

18. What inspires you?
Anything and everything, really.

19. Lastly, how would you sum up your fanfiction experiences and yourself as a writer?
I'm a mediocre writer that will never be able to have the size of her gdoc shrink haha.

productive level: zero
