I may offend some people

look, I don't pretend to know a lot about mormonism, nor do I pretend like the catholic church (gotta love people who sell tickets into heaven (do not pass hell, do not collect $200)) or other christian churches are perfect, but I just don't understand how people can believe in the LDS doctrine REMOTELY ( Read more... )

ever seen the south park episode "all about mormons"? it explains it very well.

and is definitely my second favorite episode.

oh, and there were two mormon missionairies at the bus station today and they were talking to a bum there and i had noone to tell, and i held my laughter for 15 minutes.

the book of mormon is said to be part of the history of the tribe of joseph, just as part of the bible is some of the history of the tribe of judah. the book of ezekial tells us that one day the 'stick of joseph and the stick of judah' will be made into one book of scripture. the bible speaks of the 12 sons of jacob (israel), from these 12 sons came the 'house of israel' or the 12 tribes. (joseph was the son sold into egypt by his brothers. christ was a jew who descended from the brother named judah.) any christian can't doubt that the bible tells us that a major sign of the second coming of christ is the gathering of the 12 tribes of israel ( ... )

dearest mr martin, I know what the books are, in fact I have 2 copies (and have even read the first few chapters) however, yu simply did not answer my questions. You only reference the ONE institute working on validating this religion, and it is at an LDS school.

-why isn't there a genetic tie between the hebrews and native americans? and why is natvie american data most closely related to asian data?

- why doesn't the language found in mesoamerica have linguistic ties to hebrew?

- how come there are no "third party" witness of anything in the book of mormon?

-how can it POSSIBLY be christian if humans can become gods? that's not even monotheistic! THAT's what is radical about it.

-what about the "adam-god" theory?

-why are there animal, crop, and tool references that archeologically don't make sense? ie horses, wheat, grains, chariots

heh, so i typed all that for nothing? you said "There are no archeological, genetic, linguistic, or historical evidence to support their theories!"

so you did need history. i also took care of the linguistics.

and yes, it is an institute funded by BYU but they aren't directly affiliated with the church; why would any other institute work to validate somebody's else's' religion? heh.

did you even look at the link i gave you? it answers a lot of the questions.

"the book of mormon never claims that the horse was universally known or used in the new world. for example, book of mormon references to horses suggest that they may have been relatively uncommon, being limited only to certain regions during specific periods of book of mormon history. one horse specimen, discovered in florida, was carbon-dated to about 100 b.c. other horse remains have been found in precolumbian archaeological contexts in mesoamerica (at loltun and mayapan), but these have not as yet been carbon dated."i personally think you're nitpicking, you can find things ( ... )
