Let's not forget the Republican dominated Senate.

And the 4 Supreme Court Justices that will be replaced within the next few years, undoubtedly by staunchly conservative justices that will immediately rule against all and any constitutional rights.

The only bright part of my day is knowing that at least Barack Obama won. I LOVE HIM.

"And the 4 Supreme Court Justices that will be replaced within the next few years, undoubtedly by staunchly conservative justices that will immediately rule against all and any constitutional rights."

not necessarily... Bush will NOT put his choices for Supreme Court under a Litmus Test like Kerry would insist. Bush wants appointees to first be reviewed for their legal prowess and SECONDLY for their positions. He is more openminded than Kerry who was planning on using a Litmus Test for any appointees. Bush would rather have a good judge than one who agress with his "staunchly conservative" ways.

obama is awesome, but his awesomeness is far over-shadowed by the election of peter coors in colorado. what the fuck is that?

our one cintilla of hope lies in the fact that within two years dubya will be the lame duck and hopefully nothing on his agenda at that point will get done.

the federal ban is on embryonic stem cell research not all stem cell research

yes, but sadly the stem cell research conducted otherwise has proven to be less promising. no one can argue against embryonic stem cell research if invitro fertilization remains legal and so uncontested. (however, you know this, and i already know all your views on this topic... whatever, i needed to reply for my own sanity)

hey emily dont worry about stem cells. This what ive read but diabetes cure is on the way. They take a microscopic capsule full of insulin cells. This capsule has tiny holes in it tiny enough to not let the cells that kill insulin cells in but large enough to let insulin get into the body. Ill research it some more but dony worry emily.

thanks, tom. hope is never something i lose, and it was really nice of you to be encouraging.
however, what you say does not necessarily give hope to all the other ailments (spinal cord injuries, alzheimers, parkinson's disease, +) that embryonic stem cell research is believed to promise cures for. i'm not opposed to the federal ban just because i'm diabetic.

Just because the president is religous and he doesnt support abortion mean he is imposing his religous values on the american people. Many people morally find abortion wrong, you dont need a religion to make you belive that.

i'm kind of glad you brought that up emoly November 8 2004, 01:51:16 UTC
i agree with you... however at NO point has george w. bush ever given his ethical, SECULAR views on why abortion is wrong. the reasoning he has given is that all human life, from conception, is "a sacred gift from our creator." this, besides being blatently hypocritical considering the horrifying amounts of capital punishment he has allowed and even promoted (not to mention the thousands of innocent civilians dead in iraq and afghanistan), completely crosses the line of church and state- atleast in my eyes. however, any secular arguement against abortion (though i tend to disagree) i can atleast accept in our government.

look, i dunno who you are, anonymous commenter. frankly i don't care who you are as long as you understand my point, run on sentences and all.
