[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]

Name: Jiro
Age: less than a year
Gender: Male (as far as gender goes for robots, anyway)
Fandom: Android Kikaider: The Animation
Timeline: Post-series, pre-OVAs
History: Wikipedia

Character Personality:

Jiro is a big softie. He has a gentle heart, and although he's been through a lot he still retains that kind of gentle innocence. When calm, he's pretty mellow and serious and he rarely smiles. When he does smile, it's often a sad one, and iirc he has never laughed in canon. He has a respect for all life, whether human, animal, robot, or otherwise; he believes robots have souls. He's always curious to learn new things, and finds humans and the things they do fascinating. But in some ways he also fears them and their judgments- he's easily distraught when accused of being a monster or "just a machine". He has a better understanding of why humans sometimes fear or hate him than he used to, but it still pains him when it happens.

On that note, Jiro has a hefty case of Pinocchio Syndrome. He feels emotions like a human and has the ability to look human, but in the end he's a machine, and that haunts him relentlessly. He wishes he were human. Any suggestion that he might be acting strangely or otherwise different from what's considered normal (and therefore human), and he may withdraw on himself and/or apologize, not just because he wants to be human, but because he fears that people will react badly if they knew he wasn't human. As such, it's a sensitive subject for him, and he can be distant and depressed if it comes up or if he just happens to be thinking about it. (protip: he's distant and depressed fairly often.)

Jiro's a bit of a wanderer, in a big part because of his pinocchio issues. He'll sometimes plop down somewhere random and play his guitar, which calms him and makes him feel better, which can be helpful as he's not especially good at controlling his emotions. He's still learning about the world, and he never had the chance to really learn to cope with them. As such, he can sometimes have very strong emotional reactions.

He also has a 'darker' side. While he's developed a lot based on his 'good' feelings, he always has the potential to fall prey to anger and hatred and the consequences that can come from those. When angry, he's liable to lash out at the cause of it, especially if it threatens someone he wants to protect. Anger would feed into hate and vice versa, and it could potentially end up with some unhappy results if no one is there to stop him. He's mainly able to keep this in check by thinking of Mitsuko and what she's said to him, but that isn't always enough.

It might be pertinent to mention that he loves Mitsuko, and she feels the same way. But because of what he is and what he's done, he doesn't feel that he can go back to her. At least not yet.

Character Abilities: As an advanced android built to fight, he is both very strong and very resilient, but at the same time light enough to be swift and nimble. He also has a signature move called Electro End, which is an electricity-based attack with great destructive force (it involves making an X with his arms, which then glow with energy and he strikes his targets with them which usually has the result of cutting right through them and/or causing an explosion. Basically very destructive.)

Jiro also has shown the ability to pretty much pick up and play any instrument with minimal instruction. He didn't even know what his guitar was until he met a guitar player on the street, who played a scale and a few chords for him, after which Jiro could suddenly play like a pro. So yes, there's that too.

Character Weaknesses: Jiro's emotions aren't so much his weakness as his inability to deal with them as easily as a human. At times he can be easily confused or led astray by them. Anger is his main weakness, as if he goes into a full-out rage he can easily lose control and it could affect his emotional development. He's also sensitive to sound, which may not always be a weakness but special sounds may affect him in certain ways (this would probably be a case-by-case thing in SC). Also, he is susceptible to electricity-based attacks, as they can cause him pain and to essentially 'pass out' for a time, or perhaps permanently without repairs. It's also possible to damage him in other ways, but it would take quite a lot of force and/or power to do it (things like acid and laser-based weaponry have been shown to be effective, as well as a shotgun when loaded with "special" ammunition).

[ WEAPON SECTION ]

Why your character should be a Weapon: Jiro was, from the start, created to be a weapon. And though he didn't want to, he essentially carried out that purpose by destroying his android brothers and stopping DARK. He's always being used as (or accused of being) a weapon by someone or other, it seems. He's also quick to throw himself in harm's way to defend someone, and as it is, I can't imagine him trying to use someone else as a weapon- he wouldn't want to use them like that or risk hurting them.

What is your character's Weapon form?: A guitar, specifically the red acoustic one he carries on his back. (have a corny picture from the tokusatsu.) Its sound has the ability to affect how people feel, from calm and happy to agitated and depressed; perhaps to further extremes (enough to incapacitate someone) if the resonation is strong enough. The effect can be controlled by the meister, but if the resonation is weak or slipping (or if Jiro is sufficiently distressed, which would probably amount to the same thing) then it may just make everyone feel terrible emotionally (including the meister). The meister doesn't have to be able to play guitar; just strumming it works, but the effects may be heightened if they can play well.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Soul Description: emo gentle, sensitive, conflicted, curious, protective, passionate

Soul Appearance: Jiro's soul will normally be blue, with buggish yellow eyes that resemble his eyes in his robot form, though unlike his robot form it generally looks sad. During certain other times (such as when he's angry), his soul changes to red and the expression may change.

[ SAMPLES ]

First Person:

[If you've heard newcomers trying to figure out their communicators before, you may recognize the sounds and such that come through before it finally flips to video. You get a glimpse of a young man's face, but it's not quite centered; he doesn't seem to know it's recording video. He looks a bit sad... or is that just how he normally looks?]

There's been a mistake. I don't know how I got here, but I don't want to fight anymore. I'm sorry. I didn't do anything for this to happen, so please let me go back. I was fine where I was...

Third Person:
((yoinked from old app))

The silence cut through the night like a knife. Leaving the boundaries of the city, the sounds of cars and people on late-night outings drifted away quickly, and were replaced by crickets and frogs and the occasional owl. Jiro didn't stop until he'd reached his spot, his favored lookout, and slouched down in the grass to tilt his head back and stare at the moon.

He had nowhere to go, now. Already he was settling into the routine of wandering the streets endlessly, going back to the clock with the mechanical puppets nearly every hour to stare, to wonder, to ask what and why to himself for the umpteenth time. What exactly was he, to be like those clockwork puppets? And why, why did it have to be that way? Why was it that way?

He'd heard so many of the people, making their idle chat about things that didn't mean much to him. Food, friends, how their day was, how much they hated their boss or coworker. Things like that meant nothing to a machine, so they shouldn't mean anything to him. But he wondered, he wondered what that food tasted like, what it was like to have friends, what could have happened to make someone hate another so openly. They all spoke about their lives as if it was something so obvious and simple, a given. But it was an open book to him that he didn't know how to read. It was something he'd never have, and they flaunted it without even realizing what they had.

It caused him pain. He didn't know how else to describe it. He'd felt so many emotions, and this one hurt. Was it longing? Jealousy? Envy? Did he even understand what those words meant? He constantly felt emotions that he had no name for, that he would never know a name for. Did it matter? He was just a machine. A mad machine... he didn't know the difference between good and bad. He only had emotions, and all those did was hurt. They didn't explain anything.

Some didn't hurt, though. Some felt warm and nice... but those had misled him. If he couldn't trust the nice feelings, what could he trust?

Looking away from the moon, Jiro looked out over the city. How could he trust himself?

Okay, after giving it some thought, I'd like to change Jiro's weapon form entirely, if that's all right. Here's the new description:

Jiro's weapon form is that of a marionette. The puppet itself is a chibi-ish version of his robot form, roughly two feet tall. His canon ability Electro End more or less carries over; the meister brings the puppet's arms together and it charges up an electric burst that causes explosive electric-based damage to enemies/objects on contact with the puppet. As a second piggyback ability of sorts, at the moment of contact for Electro End, the meister is shielded from damage for a brief moment- just long enough so that the attack doesn't backlash on the meister due to the necessary close range. Third and last, when resonating, both weapon and meister have a slightly higher resistance to electricity-based attacks.
