But the school itself i have never been excited about really. It has a good reputation but i really havent goten any personal sense about how spectacular it is ( Read more... )

oh yes a while ago! a gorgeous small blood red pamphlet arrived with golden lining and print from Bard College admitting me to the fabulous school. I got into all the schools i applied to accept Occidental. And thats cuz I didn't interview there.

is it too late to change your mind and go to Bard? (Sounds like you might want to consider doing this!)

I have a friend from Bard. He fucking loves it there. Apparently it's like some academic utopia.

That said, college is highly what you make of it. I had to go to my state university because I could go there for free. My second option and first love was Boston University, which was 20k a year (with scholarships). I was so upset when I sent in my forms for state U that I cried for about a month.

Then I went here and, after some stubbornness, decided to just enjoy myself. I don't regret my decision at all. Maybe I'll end up transferring, but for now, I'm here and happy.

I guess I should mention that there were a TON of people in my dorm who ended up transferring. So it seems like this is a huge decision, and it is, but nothing's set in stone. Go with your heart and pocketbook, be bold, be brave, be glad high school will soon be a distant memory!

Yes, Bard as an academic utopia is exactly the impression of the magical place all along. And it seems that everyone who goes there enthusiastically enjoys and adores it. However, I'm not going to change my mind and back out of attneidng the local Mills College instead. There areplenty of great benifites of going there such as the scholarship they gave me, a great single room as a freshman, and a fifth year MBA program! If Mills doesnt work out i can totally transfer. I'm going to stop caring abotu going somewhere for four years. it's really not my destiny to move across the country again and that's why Bard isn't going to happen right now. Thanks for your advice and input about the whole college experience. It's going to be great to get back into academia after taking a year off of school!

raven, why don't you try mills for a semester and then transfer if you feel that it isn't right for you?

yes that is perfect advice and pretty much exactly what i'm going to do. i am going to go to mills with great enthusiasm and the knowledge that i can always go to bard if I am unsatisfied at Mills. Ahh but i do wish i were going to ny so that I could see you!
