Wondering always enticed her from time to time.
Sometimes the book in her hand wasn’t what had caught her attention. The spinning threads of thought tended to begin when she glanced at the black and white print in front of her. Trying to figure out how things could’ve been different, always changing the shape of the creation it was making. After the thread was weaved out, it added to the pile of what the person was already made of.
Maybe things would have been different if she were born the south maiden.
Would she have been betrothed to him, instead? To be able to stay side by side without leaving him in the manner that Wako had already done. It hurt. Throbbing shot through her chest when she saw Wako leave to be with Takuto, to see her show feelings for him she should be showing the one she was to be with. It was a shame she couldn’t intervene without consequences holding her down.
In another life or another day, perhaps she could have Sugata to love. Two souls glittering in a galaxy far from each other, only to be drawn by gravity to collide with each other in the distant future. The only future she could see for them to come to be if the chances were right; if the chances kept them together. This was her eternity, the pledge she had branded on her heart for him without a second thought.
Everything is how it should be, and with a smile she would never change it.
