The thing is, people don't want to wait and possibly end up getting the book spoiled for them. Same thing with seeing Star Wars at midnight opening. You want to make sure you don't know what's going to happen.

Well, it's not really the same as Star Wars, because everyone knew what would happen because of the first three movies. And I doubt you'd get the story spoiled if you got it the next afternoon.
