Arisia!

So, this Arisia definitely ranked high on my all-time list of best con experiences.  This con was full of music and dancing, things that are almost guaranteed to improve any experience for me.  The biggest thing that pushed this con from a good con to an amazing con for me was, of course, the joint Stranger Ways and Sassafrass concert.  Playing ( Read more... )

Wish I could have made it to the concert (family stuff prevented me from getting back to con until nighttime), but I'm enjoying watching the vids while the baby naps on me. :)

Well, the short and simple answer for me is that I am (mostly) an extrovert. Bouncing from person to person, seeing all my friends and once and meeting new people is exciting and revitalizing. I spend a lot of time doing things I enjoy as well, but the biggest part of it is about the people for me. However, I do know introverts who manage to enjoy cons and would be happy to connect you to those people.

Heh. We did, in fact, have several great insturmentalists...and me (incompetent on several insturments, though I think I may actually be a stronger improviser on a violin-type insturment than on a harp, as my wrong notes are likely to be a lot less off :). But it was a hell of a lot of fun, and thanks for tolerating my mediocreness!

I tend to enjoy the small late night circles a lot more than the larger daytime ones myself -- though (at least partially due to the theme filks starting things off bardic), I found the Arisia filk circles to be nicely relaxing; much more so than the (technically stronger) GaFilk circles the previous week. I'll usually turtle up a bit more (or shift into listener mode) as the tension, size, and quality of a filk circle grows (as I don't want to be pushy beyond a certain amount or be annoyed if/when it fails, and nor do I really want to compete with people who are better performers than I am), and come out of my shell as things settle down and it gets late.

Well, it's very hard to hear a quiet harp a few feet away over a loud fiddle right next to my ear, so, while it sounded fine to me, I must admit that I would honestly have no idea how on you were. But it was fun to have you there, and the swap was fun. Clearly you should have a fiddle.

Fair enough. I should (am, really) work on louder.

And yeah, I should. Need to get my violin to a luthier and see if it's reparable.

That concert was just as awesome to listen to as it must have been to play in! Great stuff. =)
