A lot does happen in fifteen years. Assasins disappear, become smugglers, try to kill a man who was instrumental in the downfall of the Empire, only to fall in love with him ten years later.

Or was it from day one?

Mara Jade doesn't really know when she fell for him. She's certain it was before Callista...but not much further before. But she's certain she doesn't deserve him.

A holoframe flashes on in the walkway, and people stop to glance at the headlines. Of course. Leia Organa Solo's face appears and there's a summary of the speech she gave on the wedding announcement.

Everyone turns to look at the redhead as she pushes her way through. She just walks until she stops, feeling like she's been here before. The memories flood her instantly. Maybe...

She goes to the apartment she's next to, and goes up to the floor where she knows the woman used to live. Hesitantly, she knocks.

A voice calls out from inside. "Who is it?" There's an odd tone to the voice, as if she rarely gets people knocking on her door. "If you're selling something, go away. I don't need any. No you can't convince me otherwise." The voice is tired, perhaps a bit over-tired.

She sounds different.

Well obviously, Mara berates herself. Fifteen years. Mara sounds different too.

"It's uh." Mara starts, carefully. "It's Mara Jade. I don't know if you remember me..."

There's a pause before the door slides open, and Mara is faced with a blonde woman, hair tied back, and a rather shabbyish dress on. "Mara! Come in, please. I'm sorry for the state of my apartment. I don't really get visitors." She smiles gently. "Want some tea or something?"

Somewhere, deep inside of her, the little girl is crying over the loss of Luke, but it's been fifteen years since she's seen him. No use in giving into emotion now. She should have realized this would happen. In fact, she should have -known- it would happen.
