Archery, what else?

I've finally gotten around to sorting (some) of last year's pics.

My best indoor score is now 594 of 600 with 41 Xs. I've shot a few equal scores since, however I kept the target on which I shot the first one, back on Oct. 13, a Friday. Heh.

In our league, Xs aren't counted, but I track them as an indicator of how centered* I am. The X ring is 0.79" (20mm) diameter, and the 10 ring is 1.575" (40mm) diameter. The center ring is the X, obviously, next is a 10, and the outer yellow ring scores 9. A score of 594 in this case means 54 arrows were 10s and 6 were 9s. Of the 54 10s, 41 of those were Xs. Oddly enough, I shot a 591 - 43x about a week before this target. The X count makes it look better than this 594.

My shooting has improved quite a bit from last year. I'm quite pleased. At the end of fall league (this time last year), my average was 565, At the end of Winter league, April '06, it was 575, and now I'm at 585. Most of fall league, I held pretty steady in the upper 580s, but one or two scores slipped a little, pulling my average down to 585.

* In archery terms only. Everyone knows I'm nowhere close to emotionally centered. Ha.

Winter league begins this Monday and Tuesday. Our little club will have some of the world's best archers shooting in league this time around. Two professional archers, one of whom won something on the order of 100 grand in last year's indoor championship. The other has won some major tournaments of his own, albeit a few years back. Plus, we have a semi-pro who, on any given day, can post scores equaling the pros. And even a few of the local amateurs have averages just below perfect.
