Character: Peter Petrelli

Character Notes:
History: Peter was born December 23rd 1979 and is the youngest of two brothers. His older brother, Nathan, is twelve years older than him. His parents are Angela and Arthur Petrelli.
He graduated from nursing school when he was twenty-six and decided to go into hospice care - looking after dying people. It was that night that Peter dreamt of his brother’s accident. It was also around this time that his father died of a heart attack.
A few months later, Peter is tending to Charles Deveaux and dreams he can fly. He then confronts Nathan with this information. The next day, he attempts to fly by leaping off a building. Nathan flies up to catch him but Peter slips and falls to the ground. He is taken to hospital but confronts Nathan again about the flying soon after his release. He proceeds to levitate during the debate and Nathan then tells him the truth.
Peter goes to see Mohinder Suresh after the geneticist tries to warn Nathan. He then takes to see Isaac Mendez but fails and sees an older version of Hiro on the train telling him to rescue the cheerleader, Claire, on the way home.
After searching for a missing painting, which eventually shows him dead, and hearing about the death of Charles Deveaux moments after dreaming about it, Peter travels to Odessa, Texas, to save Claire from Sylar. Here he learns telekinesis and healing from Sylar and Claire respectively.
But all the powers he has absorbed have taken its toll on Peter. He lies comatose for two weeks in hospital before leaving, knowing he might explode and be the bomb which Isaac painted. It is here that he meets Claude the invisible man who helps him control his powers.
The next time Peter sees Sylar is in Mohinder Suresh’s flat where Sylar prompts to kill Peter with a shard of glass in the back of the neck. He only survives when Claire pulls it out and the power he gained from her saves his life. It’s not long later that Peter meets Ted Sprague and mimics his ability.
A few days later, all the heroes convene in Kirby Plaza where Peter is flown up by Nathan and explodes in the sky above New York. He then takes his brother to the nearest hospital but is captured trying to leave by Elle Bishop and her father.
Here Peter meets Adam Monroe who informs him they are really in a prison. He stops taking the pills so that he can escape with Adam and use Adam’s blood to heal Nathan. They succeed in this but when fleeing they are chased by Elle and The Haitian and are therefore separated. Peter is caught by The Haitian and his memory wiped. He is locked in a crate which ends up in Cork, Ireland. He falls in love with a girl names Caitlin and, in an attempt to get his identity back, strands her in a dark future which he must prevent. He meets Adam again and after a new conversation, he remembers everything. They both go to find Victoria Pratt to find out where the Shanti virus is being held and after battling with Adam, Peter destroys it.
Days later, Peter travels to another future where he learns Sylar’s ability in the hope it will help prevents splitting the world in two. Peter comes back to the present where he attacks his mother in the throes of Sylar’s hunger, but Sylar, thinking he is Peter’s brother, saves Angela and leaves Peter in a drugged sleep.
Personality: Peter starts off being an optimistic dreamer who always looks to the skies. He could be very immature but always puts everyone first. He loves his family more than anything and looks up his brother with great esteem.
But once he reaches the skies, he seems to grow up and sacrifice for others is more than a thought, it’s a reality. He risks both himself and those that follow him to save his family, especially Nathan and Claire while always trying to stay hidden and secretive. He goes from being a carefree nurse into a man who saves the world.

First Person (entry type): I was invisible when it happened. Trying to escape the bullets myself. But then I heard the door and both shots. She looked so shocked and confused as I became visible again, holding her in my arms. She was crying, and the last thing she saw was mine and Isaac’s faces. Then, she was gone. I could hear Isaac saying something as I checked her heart beat. But there was nothing. No heart beat and nothing I could do to save her. She was dead and it was all my fault. I carried to her over to the bed. The gun was still smoking.
Third Person: Peter entered the room and looked around, watching his family. There was his mother and father. His brother, Nathan and his wife, Heidi. And then there were the strangers in the corner in which he only saw at this time of year. He sighed inwardly, hating the gatherings that his father put on for Nathan but smiled on the outside, pretending to enjoy himself, for Nathan’s sake at least.
He liked to watch and observe. Always had done. It helped to have something to occupy himself with since he was always in the background. In Nathan’s shadow. Not that he minded.
A man came up to him and they chatted about how brilliant Nathan was and how he was so like his father, until he was glad to be stolen away by his mother. It was time for the toast and, as usual, Peter had to be there with the family as they all congratulated Nathan on his achievements. Again. Peter was glad it was all over and he could go home. And dream about flying again.
Second First Person Sample: I’m fighting the hunger. Sylar’s hunger. Perhaps Mohinder was right after all. Perhaps I shouldn’t have taken it. But it is the most interesting power I have acquired. Understanding the way things work, realising every variable, cause and effect, action and reaction, knowing how to change the future. It is all part of mending the watch which named the monster I now call my brother. It is an extraordinary ability but I am not sure if I can control it. I am becoming Sylar. His power is overwhelming me. The hunger consuming me. I must fight it and stop the future I saw from becoming true. Especially for those that were lost due to my actions.
