Summary: It is easy to make mistakes and regret it but is it easy to forgive mistakes and forget it?
Junho shot straight up in bed in the middle of the night. Cold sweat covered him as he breathed heavily. It took him a few minutes to convince himself that it was just a nightmare. Junho knew that this nightmare was going to frequently haunt him in his sleep. He buried his head in his knees as he hugged himself and let the tears fall. Images from the nightmare flashed across Junho’s mind making him shiver. Images where Seulong hovered over him with his knife and Wooyoung stood there watching him, laughing at him while he suffered. Junho started to shake uncontrollably as he cried. He tried hard to suppress the noises he made while sobbing by burying his face deeper into his knees. Junho sat there crying for a good 30 minutes before he started to feel suffocated and tired.
Junho’s POV
I guess it won’t be as easy as I thought to forgive Wooyoung, seeing as even dreams of him hurt me. I can hear his friends laughing at me over and over again in my head. Whenever I close my eyes I could see their faces leering down at me, a crazed while expression on their faces. I could feel the pressure of Seulong’s hands feel my writhing body under him as I try to escape him. I know all this happened but I wasn’t so sure they were supposed to feel so real in dreams.
Sleep wouldn’t come, as I’ve become afraid of closing my eyes. I know Wooyoung won’t hurt me but those nightmares do. I can only force myself to forget.
Chansung has been staying with me for a week now. I know he was only supposed to stay till my fever subsided but you won’t believe the mess I’ve become in these few days. I pity Chansung and Wooyoung for having to put up with me. Still, Wooyoung did deserve it.
End of Junho's POV
Flashback
“LET ME GO!!!!!!! NO!! NO!! PLEASE DON’T!! PLEASE!” Loud screams came from Junho’s room where he had just fallen asleep a few hours ago. Both Wooyoung and Chansung jerked up from their deep sleep and ran out of their rooms into Junho’s.
Wooyoung was first to reach Junho and was shocked to see the younger boy thrashing around in bed drenched in sweat. He ran to Junho and took him in his arms where the small boy continued to shiver as though he was having a fit. “Junho-yah, Junho-yah, wake up baby”, Wooyoung lightly tapped Junho’s cheeks in attempt to wake him up as he hugged the boy tightly keeping him on his lap.
Chansung rushed towards them and put Junho’s legs on his own lap while he rubbed his feet. Soon, Junho gasped for air as he woke up and continued to breathe loudly. As the professional, Chansung immediately gave him water and told him to take deep breaths as held on to Junho’s cheeks.
Junho took several minutes to calm down as he sat on Wooyoung’s lap. However, when he did calm down enough to realize Wooyoung’s presence and the contact between them, he shocked the two boys by pushing Wooyoung’s chest and madly running into Chansung’s arms where he whimpered and started to cry. Chansung maintained a solemn expression as he rubbed Junho’s back and eyed Wooyoung with a look that said “You have to leave now”.
The oldest boy silently glared at Chansung and sent a sad expression towards Junho before he left the room.
Wooyoung’s POV
I checked up on him every hour without sleeping. It hurts me to think that the first time Junho put his hands on me was to push me away. Still, I have hope. I have hope that he’ll trust me with time… and I guess his fever could have made him slightly jumpy.
I had planned to chase Chansung out once I got back from work because I didn’t require his services anymore.
End of POV
Although Wooyoung wanted nothing but to come back home and relief Chansung of his duties, work didn’t seem to be finishing itself. He only got off late at night and rushed back home in hope that he could still get rid of said nurse.
When Wooyoung reached home, he was disappointed to see that most of the lights were off which meant that the pair was already asleep and any ideas of asking Chansung to leave had to be postponed to next morning.
He slowly crept to the kitchen to feed himself a midnight snack but froze at the door when he saw Junho’s tiny frame in the kitchen. The boy was helping himself to a glass of water while cutely rubbing his eyes and keeping his tiny eyes shut to avoid the bright lights in the kitchen. Wooyoung smiled as he watched the little boy pour water into the cup with his eyes closed.
Wooyoung snapped out of dazedly staring at Junho when he realized that the water from Junho’s cup was starting to overflow and said boy hadn’t noticed this because he was sleeping while standing.
Wooyoung contemplated for a while if he should let Junho come to his senses by himself or if he should help the boy.
Choosing the latter option, Wooyoung slides towards Junho’s back and hesitates before reaching out to Junho’s hand. Wooyoung holds on to the small boy’s wrist to stop him from tilting the mug any further before he uses his other arm to hug Junho’s waist and pulls him away from the counter where the water is overflowing onto Junho’s shirt.
Junho’s eyes shoot open and they are wider than ever before. He spins in Wooyoung arms and stares at the older boy with huge eyes that show fear and weakness.
Junho presses his cup on Wooyoung chest to push himself out of the older boy’s arms. He moves back into the wet counter, flinching at the touch of cold water, but not making any effort to move away from the counter towards Wooyoung.
Junho continues to stare at Wooyoung with his eyes as huge as the moon with a mixture of emotions and the latter stares back with another set of emotions.
‘Don’t lean on the counter Junho-yah. It’s wet.” Wooyoung comments softly to break the silence. Junho doesn’t move. The older boy reaches out to and grabs Junho’s arms softly to pull him away from the counter and the unexpected happens. Junho drops the cup in his hands and it shatter into pieces at his feet, the water in the cup splashing at the pair. Wooyoung jumps back startled by Junho’s reaction, Junho on the other hand slides down to the floor hugging his knees as he cries yet again.
Wooyoung looks back and forth from Junho to the shattered cup with his hands on his head as he stands there completely confused on what to do before he realizes Junho is sitting on broken glass pieces.
“Junho, I’m sorry..I- I won’t touch you again but please, please get up. You’ll hurt yourself baby. Please.” Wooyoung begs Junho on his knees, scooping pieces of glass away from Junho with his bare hands, hurting himself. It was still no use because Junho was sitting on most of the glass pieces, fearing Wooyoung more than being scratched by glass.
“Junho, get up baby. Look baby, it’s scratching you, the glass is scratching your skin baby. Get up. Please just get up.” Wooyoung was on the verge of going crazy as he watched Junho sit there and get hurt while refusing to get up if it meant going anywhere near Wooyoung. Where was Chansung when you needed him?
The older boy finally gave up as he reached for Junho and lifted him up bridal style as he ignored Junho’s cries. “NO!! WOOYOUNG!! LET ME GO!! DON’T HURT ME!! PLEASE DON’T!!” Junho continued to scream and struggle in Wooyoung’s arms but the older ignored him as he carried him all the way to his bedroom and placed him gently on the bed where Junho continued to wail loudly.
Wooyoung ran towards Chansung’s room and knocked on his door like a mad man until the nurse opened the door with his eyes barely open. Let’s just say Junho’s frequent mental breakdowns hadn’t given Chansung a chance for some shut eye. “What’s going on?” the sleepy one asked.
“Go to him and don’t ask any questions.” Wooyoung said with eyes so dark and emotional that Chansung could not do otherwise.
That night Chansung spent fixing up Junho’s wounds and put the younger back to bed before he retired for the night only to come out into the living room to see a rather pitiful sight of a distraught Wooyoung.
“You know what I did to him Chansung. You know. He told you didn’t he?” It was more of a statement then a question. Still, Chansung gave a small nod as he sat next to the crying Wooyoung.
“I didn’t mean it.. I was angry at the time. Stupid and angry” Wooyoung said between wailing and choking on his tears. “Tell me Chansung; tell me if he’ll forgive me. You know him better than I do I’m sure.” Wooyoung begged as he shifted his body towards Chansung and looked at the nurse with droopy, sad eyes expecting an answer. Chansung hated the man with all his heart. At the same time, he’s never seen a man this remorseful either. “He’ll forgive you. He has a big heart…and most of the place in that heart belongs to you. Idiot.”
