Really I'm making this entry to give a review of using my phone...
I have to give Lady GaGa credit for singing the catchiest songs.
I won't stop until that boy is mine...
But I'm not writing about songs, I'm writing about my phone.
So...my dear Ruby Red E63, aka Alyene (aka the first 'female' phone I've had in a while because the last three were all named 'Xander).
Ease of use:
Very intuitive! I never caught on with handheld PDAs before, preferring to write my day down but somehow, I'm using Alyene quite well. It's a combination of her qwerty keyboard being very comfortable to type on, and the 1 touch shortcut button to the calendar. it shows we my meetings for the day and at what time, so that's all good.
About that qwerty, yes, I'm really impressed by it. It is plastic of course, but because it's matte, it has a rubbery like feel, so it's easy to grip and you tend to type the right letters instead of slip off to the ones next to it.
The Symbion OS is quite easy to use. I only wish that I had a timer and stopwatch in my organizer like I had on my previous phone - those were really convenient to have around.
Speed:
Okay, one of my old interns laughed at me for not getting a blackberry because "the E63 is slow". I want to say that I'm satisfied with it. It admittedly doesn't have the same responsiveness as the Blackberry Bold or the iPhone 3Gs, and some apps can take a little while, but since it is after all, the less souped up E71, that is to be expected.
Internet:
Using WiFi is easy. She also finds signals really quickly. She's fast enough, and I do manage to get news updates from her quite easily. I also have her hooked up to my gmail, only thing is that for some time there (due to my stupidity) I had it set up in such a way that I could read mail but not reply. Well that's fixed up now.
Downloads are pretty fast as well. Okay, it's not immediate, but I downloaded fring quite quickly and set it up in less than a few minutes. Still looking for a good twitter app for the E63 though.
Screen:
Mostly good, but of course for browsing sometimes the screen is a bit small. Granted it's the same for reading. Yes, I put a few books in there (pdf) and I can read them well enough to pass the time but it's not quite comfortable or anything I should strain my eyes on. I'm still working on getting videos onto her, but so far the screen is ok.
Battery Life:
Ahhah! Okay, 2 days max so far has been her battery life. I have 2 chargers now so I feel it less (compatible with past phone).
More later!
