GRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Eighty-six degrees out today...with high humdity. I go to the grocer's and see a dog in a car with all the windows rolled up tight. The dog barks, and is panting. I knew I'd be just a few minutes, so I go inside, and when I emerge ten minutes later, the dog is still there. I wait a few minutes...no one comes to the car ( Read more... )

I would have just taken the dog and driven it to the animal control place and turned it in. Let her come and pay money to bail it out !

I thought of that, but entering a private vehicle is illegal here, and I really didn't want to have to call someone to come bail me out of jail...
The other thing is that if she *didn't* come get her dog (and I have doubts, since she clearly doesn't care all that much about it) within the limited time frame, I'm certain the dog would be euthanized, as he was OLD and blind.

I suppose there is a chance that she usually leaves the car & AC on, and forgot, but that doesn't excuse her disinterest in going out to check when advised of the situation. And she should make goddamn SURE of these things before she leaves the car!!! And THANK the people who let her know about the problem, too, not accuse them of maldoing. Good for you for forcing the issue. I applaud you.

Oh, I'm getting a whole force fed education in alpacas. The people across the street are in Hawaii for a month, leaving us with 15 of the critters to tend. Two of the boys are fighting and we're not sure how to stop them, or to just ignore it. I need to do research and see how badly they can hurt each other. They have more animals than places to put them, so separating them will be a real pain (for the animals, not us) if we have to do that.

Better reply after the storm, but try spitting at the offending alpacas. Chances are, one of them is the alpha. When our alpha started throwing his weight around, I spat at him. The first time, he just backed up and stared at me for a minute, then continued his dick-measuring behaviour. I spat again. He stopped immediately, looked at me really strangely, then started to bite and smack the other alpaca with his neck...but suddenly he stopped and looked back at me. I spat at him a third time, and now he seems to check out whether it's okay for him do something before he does it. We figure he now thinks I'M the alpha and he's my stalwart second...
