I too, am sick. I have been exposed to the fourth grade cooties (some call it a cold). Donna, my mentor teacher, actually sent me to the nurse yesterday to have my temperature checked. It was 98.7. It continues to be 98.7 today, actually. I think I probably drank over 80 ounces of water yesterday because my throat was so scratchy I felt like I was

Hope you get better quick also! Not meaning to burst your bubble, but it's a fact of life that a fair percentage of even elementary kids (especially 5th graders) have a tendency to be apathetic about learning. It has frustrated me through the years too. Good luck with middle school - those kids aren't even human, just raging hormones. I think that is why I like high school - either the students actually do care and try or they don't and it's their problem. In elementary ages, there is more pressure on the teacher to entice learning. (But I still think that is where my greatest skill lies. Not enticing but with elementary age)

Hope you get better soon also! Not to burst your bubble, but it is an unfortunate fact of life that a substantial percentage of students (even elementary,especially 5ht graders) just don't care. Sometimes it is based on their household situations and other times - who knows. Trust me, it has been a source of frustration for me over the years. As for middle school, good luck with that. Those kids aren't even human, just raging hormones with legs and mouths. High schoolers either care and work at what is needed or frustrate those that love them and the teachers who actually aren't burnt out, but it is still their responsibility to learn what is needed so the teacher doesn't have to feel so guilty. Elementary ages it seems there is more pressure put on the teacher to entice learning.

It's a little bit different at the school I've been interning at though. It's not even a passive not caring, it's a blatent, in your face, I have no interest in what you're trying to make me interested in and I will draw on myself and when you ask me what I'm doing, I won't pretend to do my work, I will tell you I'm drawing on myself as if you couldn't tell.

I also just don't have the excited voice to work with elementary school kids.

One of my friends was encouraging me to teach history yesterday, so I'm thinking about that too.

History is cool and you would be good at that for sure. Didn't they have ANY discipline at that school?
