Vicki, you'll appreciate this. Josh just sat down and picked up my knitting sticks (needles, if you will), which I had earlier thrown in my non-domestic frustration, and started knitting after figuring out the simple casting on in my book that I could not figure out. I pretty much just hate him now. In my defense, however, his grandmother taught ( Read more... )

My condolences. Honestly. Maybe he can teach you and not suck at it like I did?

I am actually getting better, but I'm still crossing stitches and still don't really know how or why.

Make sure to pull the right needle entirely out of the loop on the left needle before you take the left-needle-loop off said left needle.

I just find it amazing that the three of you knit at all. Kim knitted some when we were younger, but I never had the patience for that. It always seemed to take waaaaayyy too long and become boring - definitely not soothing to me. Crocheting was quick enough to keep my interest for awhile and I still like it some, but don't have time for it often (maybe I should do that while watching TV?)

Honestly, I don't really have the patience for it either, but I want to have the patience for it. So I play with it for a couple of minutes, throw it, don't touch it for weeks, then play with it for a while again, etc. The idea was that I like sweaters a lot, and would eventually be able to knit them for myself. This however, seems like if it ever happens will be a long, long, long..., long, long time away. Also, there's theoretically nothing Vicki can do that I can't. :) Josh's knitting is mostly limited to laughing at me after he picks them up and just does things that happen to be correct. Then trying to show me how he did it, and laughing when I fail to do it no less than three times before I finally get it and still do it fairly poorly. :-/ Meh. I'll get it eventually.
