We're hardly working to make people consciously feel powerless, though, are we? Our job isn't to take power away or make others feel worthless, but to help them avoid causing minor - and major - disasters.

Yes, quite, but how do we do that? [Cambridge's tone is quick and impatient, as if this all was really very basic 'Order 101' stuff.] Through making sure that the morons who think they're in power don't do anything to fuck up all our hard work. Their concept of their own power is a total illusion. They don't so much as sneeze without one of us there for damage control.
