Wow, so in my last post from July I seem to have mentioned that I can't believe it will be Labor Day soon. 0_o Happy Labor Day to my US flisters, and happy September, everyone!

I'm about two days late if I have my time zones figured out correctly, but I want to send out better-late-than-never happy birthday wishes to hidden_houses - I hope it was a good one ( Read more... )

My wonderful Radar had kidney disease, so I know what little Sophie is enduring. I am sending her love and happy thoughts. (The same to you as well! Please stick around, because you still have to finish that Jack/Grace fic. Also, I love you, hon.)

My condolences to you about Radar, I don't think I knew you back then or perhaps I'm not recalling his name - kidney disease sucks, doesn't it? Our old girl Token died from it around age 18-19 and our one hope is that Sophie seems to be rebounding better than she did, possibly because she's a few years younger.

And actually, I think fic goals are well worthy of sticking around for - both the writing and the reading, which reminds me that I must go back and review Broken Arrow. I love you too hon. *hugs*

Radar passed away before the advent of my online life, but he was amazing - possibly the greatest hunter in the history of felines. He was 21 when the kidney disease finally got the best of him and even then... I still cry remembering being in there with him at the end. I kid you not, I actually had to give him permission to let go and pass away. Even the vet tech was in tears. He was my boy.

I am sending all the good thoughts there are and hey - Sophie is 7 years from 21, so she's got a great chance!

*loves you*

Radar sounds like an amazing and wonderful kitty! I'm glad he left you with so many good years of love and memories.

Token was definitely the hunter in our household, she managed to find and kill a mouse and present it very proudly to us just weeks before she died. Sophie has a decent hunting instinct, Chris not so much - it may come from their always having been indoor-only kitties, whereas Ian used to let Token go outside before I came along and changed her into a spoiled lazy old thing. *G*

First of all, don't leave us!

B) I'm sorry your kitty (my mom's name was Sophie, so I have problems calling a cat by her name *g*) is having kidney trouble. It's never welcome news to hear that our furbabies are ill. With proper meds and lots of love she should be with you for a long time yet. <3

3) Something is up with my Riley. He drinks too much water and has a voracious appetite...and then he doesn't. Today he seems more normal although still drinking too much water. He's going to the vet tomorrow afternoon. I thought it might be his kidneys, but he gained weight and the huge appetite make me think it might diabetes. Maybe? The diabetes can be reversed with insulin and diet so that's the one I'd pick if I had to choose. Actually, I'd choose him to be completely healthy. He's only 7. He still chases his sister George and he plays with his toys a lot.

And d) Don't leave us! {big hugs}

I'll be here! *clings* I'm not always happily here, but I have obligations to kitties and patients and a husband and friends, so you all are stuck with me. :)

There's a wonderful online resource called Tanya's Comprehensive Guide to Feline Chronic Kidney Disease that I've been hanging out at a lot lately, and they very aptly describe CKD as a roller-coaster for both the CKD cat and her human. Sophie seems to be on the happy end of the roller-coaster at the moment, so her mom will try to do the same thing although it's easier said than done. *G ( ... )

The cats are what keep me going, too. Some days I want to run away from home. I'm not about to abandon them, but I haven't even thought of leaving "permanently" in any way. I'd pack them up and take them with me if I were to physically move ( ... )

That's great that Christopher is doing well on his thyroid meds. Tapazole? I'm sure Sophie (there, I said it! lol) will be with you for a long time. Enjoy your time together. {more hugggs}

I feel like I'm not being supportive enough here. My stoooopid job is really wearing me out physically and mentally and I don't sleep and I've become a zombie. Rick and Michonne will be showing up any time now to lop my head off! I really hope you get that reference. lol
