Solicitation has no place in that sacred space.
The speaker committed a great wrong.

I hope you have managed to have a happy birthday, yes?

The PASTOR, the man of GOD, the Father of the child of GOD has no right to give an altar call at HIS sons funeral?? The way i hear it this son of his was with God and if that is the truth then Steve would have wanted you to be there so that he could witness to you even in death. Please correct me if i am wrong, was the church not built for this so called solicitation? Steve's funeral did not have to be at a church. Steve knew very well what goes on inside of that church, his father knew very well what goes on in that church, and the decision was made by the responsible parties. Also, was YOUR ignorance so great that you did NOT know what goes inside of this sacred place? I will pray for you.

I was there to greive the loss of my friend, not to be saved. No one came to be saved. Everyone came to mourn their loss of an amazing person: Steve. I'm fully aware of what goes on in a sacred place, and even I did not expect this. I go to church every Sunday and every Wendesday. I'm a youth leader in my church. I participate in youth events, and I have been to numerous other funerals which occured in other churches as well. In none of these events have I EVER been humiliated as I have at this one. What about Steve's friends who were Jewish? I knew some of them were. How do you think they must have felt? And to be practically blackmailed! by basically saying "if you don't do this, you will never see Steve again".

Oh, and yes... Steve knew very well what went on in that church, but how was the decision made by the responsible parties. No, NO ONE knows that Steve was VERY RELIGIOUS, because he WASN'T. And tell me, how did Steve, obviously one of the parties whom you deem responsible, able to say how he would've liked to have his ( ... )

Oh my dear lisa,
DO you read the book of mormon bible?? I understand that you are not a religious person, however, you say that you read the Bible and that all people go to heaven. PLEASE show me where this is because i consider myself to be fairly knowledgable when it comes to the scriptures and i am certian that NOwhere does it say that all go to heaven. Also, no one was pushed up to the front. The opportunity was presented to be accepted or declined. Its easy to just say no, or no thank you if you have manners.

perhaps not...but he wouldn't have liked his own funeral anyway, so what's the use in trying to make him happy now? He wouldn't have liked his friends to be treated so disrespectfully and so tastelessly.
