I Love this song WAAAAAAAAAAY too much. It was my summer anthem!

Day 19: A talent of mine
I know I'm not talentless, but I'm having a really hard time with this one right now. I think that my anxiety is to high for me to be super positive. I here are some things I am good at: organizing ANYTHING. I love to organize things, put things in their places and play with bins. Really this is just my OCD having an outlet, but shhhhhh don't tell. I'm actually a good cook. I can cook almost anything form memory. I love making myself delicious meals! [tonight dinner is a bit of delicious frittata and some french green beans de provence]. I am really really good at getting lost. Seriously! I do not know my right from my left [it's called a right/left perception disorder] so I am always getting lost while following my TURN BY TURN navigation. It drives people crazy so most of the time I simply have people drive me around. My boyfriend feels safer when he drives than when I do!

Day 20: A hobby of mine
I collect antique and vintage beads to make jewelry. I also collect bronze scraps and thin gauge copper to make mini sculptures. In college I worked in the fine metal studio all the time and really found out that I enjoy making things with my hands. I love casting and smithing as well. Really if it's metal based I probably love it. I also have a weird obsession with plastics and have to wear a mask every time I cut it. Plastic will kill you. That's one of the main lessons I learned in college! ANYWAYS yeah I make jewelry out of antique beads. I get the beads by digging through peoples basements and at estate sales. It's a lot of fun! Just terribly expensive!

Day 21: A recipe

Veggie Chili

Ingredients: 2 tbsp canola oil
1 1/2 cups chopped yellow onion
1 cup chopped red bell pepper
2 tbsp minced garlic
1 serrano pepper, stemmed, seeded and minced
1 medium zucchini, stemmed and small diced
2 cups corn kernels (fresh or can)
2 large portobello mushrooms, stemmed and cubed
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp ground cumin
1 1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp cayenne
4 large tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped
2 cups canned black beans
1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 cup vegetable stock (or water)
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
Cooked brown rice (optional side)

Directions:
Heat oil over medium-high heat in a large, heavy pot. Add the onions, bell peppers, garlic and serrano
pepper. Cook, stirring often, for about 3 minutes. Add the zucchini, corn and mushrooms. Cook, stirring
until soft and the veggies begin to brown around the edges. (Maybe 6 minutes or so.) Add the chili
powder, cumin, salt and cayenne. Cook and stir for about 30 seconds. Add the tomatoes and stir well.
Add the beans, tomato sauce, and vegetable stock or water. Stir well and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat
to med-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in the cilantro. Serve with brown rice.
Serves 8.

Day 22: A website

Here are my current favorites from my reader:
  • Snackface - I have an weird thing about seeing what other people eat. O HAI FOOD BLOGZ. This is my favorite food blog because I love her blog writing style. She's adorable and eats [mostly] vegan delicious food.
  • Charade Style - part cute clothes, part epic quotes, part great advice. It's like a great girlfriend on the internet. I love this!
  • Kyla Roma - Crafty, musicy and a prairie girl. Oh and Canadian. This blog is great! It's a bit more intimate or something.
  • Mermaid in a Manhole - A new find! Great lists, advice, and fashion. It's very personal and I love her for LIFE.
