Today is Troy Trevor Tulowitzki's 23rd birthday. Aside from having an awesome name, he is my candidate for Rookie of the Year, a strong contender for a Gold-Glove-if-only-Omar-Vizquel-would-retire-already, and a fantastic flirt of a shortstop. I'm just a little in love with him. So have a picspam.

My boy is back! And he pitched today!

Loading up: The Mets' big league roster includes 35 players now that Joe Smith, David Newhan, Anderson Hernandez and Lawrence have been promoted following the end of Triple-A New Orleans' season. I am terribly horrified. I thought I'd mandated everyone to go read Freak Show by James St. James, but I apparently didn't. So consider this the order. Go forth and read, and then come back and share the love. It is a brilliant book.

Rick Ankiel kind of rocks* these days. I remember the '00 postseason when he had his meltdown. As a Mets fan I was enjoying it immensely, of course, but this is still an awesome comeback, or at least the beginning of a comeback.

And Liverpool is wonderful as well.

I've been sick and the Mets have been playing so disastrously that I am ready to cry tears of frustration and rps feels intrusive and wrong but I wrote some anyway because I needed it. So have the result of my attempt at brain healing and please remember that if it's possible to overdose on cough syrup and cough drops I will probably do so soon.

This is from the March training camp and I desperately wish that I had gotten it done before the Gold Cup roster was announced. Most of it has been sitting in a notebook since the middle of April, when these boys were infinitely more interesting than finding out what I needed for my Poli Sci final.

The U.S.'s roster for the Gold Cup has been announced and the good news (among other things) is that both of these boys are on it. The bad news is that both Chris Albright and Jimmy Conrad have hamstring injuries and cannot participate, with the former out all summer and the latter a possibility for Copa America.
