You know, I just want to go back and watch Torchwood Season 2 again from scratch and just sink into fandom for a while and just forget about what's happening right now.

But then I feel guilty so I leave the tv on the news so it's constantly playing the flood updates.

Which just depresses me more.

It's a never-ending cycle.

This afternoon we lost all telecommunications - internet, landline phone and cellphone access. Still had power and television but we lost communications. And I was like... FUCK. Ya know? Scared me.

Yeah we lost phone, internet and mobile service yesterday morning, only got it back today at 2pm but it's still sketchy. I do distance ed uni and my campus is at Toowoomba so I've no idea how people there are. I'm at Bribie - it hasn't really flooded since we're not connected to the river systems, but Bribie Island rd was closed, and Caboolture isolated, so we were cut off.

How are you faring at your end? You and your family are safe? The photos of our city and out state break my heart, really.

I'm in Woody Point at Redcliffe, so we're fine, no flooding. They've closed off the Bruce Hwy, but I *think* the Hornibrook Bridges are still open. I don't know, I'm still on holidays from work so I haven't had to actually go anywhere. I rescheduled my psych appt, which was in Alderley, because the Enoggera Creek flooded - my friend from work lives up the road from my psychologist's office and said not to bother trying I wouldn't get through.

Our telecommunications went out around 2pm and came back around 6pm. Sam was in the middle of a skype call with his parents in NZ at the time so yeah, could have been better timing but oh well. All family is okay and I'm pretty sure all my friends are safe too. Most people I've either had responses via txt or facebook so...

Toowoomba is completely under water from what I've seen. Their flood waters are supposed to hit us like tomorrow or something? I dunno. I'm a little confused by it all now.
