this. I think art as a whole, in general, is pretty derivative. My aunt is a glass artist and her older work gets compared to Dale Chihuly a LOT. She started doing art shows here right around the time his stuff was blowing up over here, and nearly every visitor to our tent would say "wow, looks like a Chihuly" It was really frustrating for her, granted she hadn't been in glass as long as he had but wasn't in any way shape or form capitalizing on his popularity. Now she does mostly wall stuff and the comparisons have diminished but I'm sure there's someone else she gets compared to now, or someone who gets compared to her, y'know?

I know I'm personally no artist, but when I do draw I tend to try to model my drawings on artists I love, because I'm familiar with that style and it's easier for me to transcribe to paper.

Also, I love CeCe. :D Also I really really love your etsy stuff and I swear to god when I have dollars I am going to buy something. Honest to gosh!!
