[Public, Filtered away from Lupin and Black]

Nothing says life's not fair like showing young adults that regardless of effort, victory will be snatched from them if the opposing side has a hero in their ranks.

I am not unaware that I have been accused of bias as a teacher, but awarding one hundred and seventy points in the eleventh hour in ( Read more... )

[He has avoided the books, therefore, Snape has the ranty, bitchy edge.]

People like to tell stories where people that take risks come out on top. When people follow rules and succeed it doesn't sound like they're beating any odds.

It's a shit example to set people up for.

So it is.

You've returned, then.

Yup.

Narvin found a grenade and I don't know how to use TARDIS medical equipment.

Thought the death toll would come in handy. Though I came back to a creepy damn atmosphere.

Indeed.

Kay, is the anti-magic weapon as yet in your possession?

[Snape asking him for a favour? He must be desperate.]

What do you need?

I have allowed you to retain full control of your magic; I ask now that you put it to good use.

Bellatrix has made it clear to me that she intends to do harm to Martha. I'm certain you can form your own conclusion as to why.

[Because Martha was a muggle. Because Snape had the audacity to love her.

Because she could.

He hadn't sought out his favourite cousin; he had thrown a fit in his room after he saw her initial broadcast, but he hadn't spoken of her or even really acknowledged that she existed. Not to Remus, not to anyone.]

Whatever you need.

[After a very long pause, because he was expecting much more of a fight - and, too, it's Sirius:]

Thank you.

I'll dispense with the prologue; you know very well that Bellatrix is aboard and what she is capable of.

And what I stand to lose.

You wish me to treat my inmate fairly, and also to continue benefiting from my expertise with your potion?

If you are, indeed, intent on this...absurd notion of friendship, then I am enlisting your aid as my friend. Help me protect Martha.

Of course. I've been already watching her to make certain that she doesn't get ideas, not about Martha, specifically, but just because of who she is.

Has she made specific threats?

Heroes are severely overestimated, in my experience.

In mine, they are overindulged.

They usually are. They're the ones who take all the credit.

Most people tend to like their heroes and villians clearly defined, even though it's a far cry from how the real world works.
