I took Annie to the Bone and Joint Institute at Hershey, yesterday, for a hand check-up. The specialist thinks it is still healing well, although slowly. She might need a skin graft down the line, to close over the gap where you can still see the tendons. Sometimes I wish that doctors would think about their patients' reactions to certain things and think before they open their mouths with the worst case scenario, which only needs to be brought up if things are actually heading in that direction. *shakes head and sends a hug for Annie*

The idea of you moving closer to your kids sounds like a good one. Being closer to them means seeing them more often and that you'll have more support when things don't go as well as they should.

yes, some drs really need a gentle verbal whack about the ear hole now and again when they forget that what's an interesting issue to them can be emotionally overwhelming and terrifying to a patient.
