Just saw the live tweet come in - House votes total over 218 for the bill to end the shutdown/raise debt ceiling. It has the votes to pass. Senate already passed. May the Tea Party go back to the primordial ooze they came from. This crap is temporarily over ( Read more... )

I hope all this stupidity makes the people who voted Tea Party realize that they made a mistake. Probably not though.

I read a really interesting blog the other day (and now I can't remember where it was) that talked about not-crazy people having to understand that for the Tea Party die-hards, it is all about trying to avert the Apocalypse and that Obama is really, to them, the antichrist. Seriously. So, in comparison to a Book of Revelations situation where the Four Horseman ride over humanity, etc., global monetary collapse, etc., is small potatoes to these people. They live terrified of imaginary (to the rest of us) horrors.

Wow, I was just saying this exact thing to my Mom.

After Obama was reelected, one of my cousin's posted on FB, "It's the end of days," and I just had to facepalm.

I recognize this belief set because I was Assembly of God when I was a teenager. I did manage to grow out of it, but a lot of people never have and never will.
