I think Chris Rock in Dogma put it better than I ever could.

"I just think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea but changing a belief is trickier. People die for it. People kill for it."

I think this applies to religion and politics, in particular. The day you stop questioning, is the day you stop moving forward and become fossilized

Alas, it seems many religions and most political parties don't want us to do that at all.

Thank you - One of the things I like a lot about Judaism is ideally, at least in the Conservative movement, you're supposed to ask questions and keep on asking questions about everything.

That's one of hte main reasons I converted, that you are allowed to ask questions. You are even allowed to get mad at God, which will get you burned at the stake in many Christian traditions :)
