Well...what the heck....

I was looking at the pics of Joe Flan and His "dear friend" Minnie Driver at some Oscars after-party and the next thing I knew I had found this on Google, it's from TMZ on 1/28/14:

The intergalactic adventures of Lt. Colonel John Sheppard have been derailed ... at least as a married man -- TMZ has learned, "Stargate Atlantis" star Joe Flanigan's ( Read more... )

Glad you're feeling better!

Saw that about Joe back in Jan. To be honest, I'm not really surprised. Just hope that they can get everything settled amicably and that he continues to have the boys as often as he can.

I was saddened, but yeh, not terribly surprised. I hope they can split up the assets without dumping too much drama on the boys - the kids are still so young.

Always sad when a family breaks up - and definitely hope for the best for the kids, but have to say they never looked particularly happy together in any of the photos you see of them (she always looked so crabby). Not that I can say that's what was actually happening - of course you never know unless you're the one in the situation - but I do wish them all the best and hope they can both find happiness.

It's hard to find a photo of them together where they do look happy. Katherine always looked like she was being terrible artsy and also sucking on a very sour lemon at the same time. Hopefully everybody ends up in a good/better place and doing better than ever.

I think he looks happier than I've seen him in a while and if he is seeing Minnie, at least he's not with some twinky airhead. Though, to be honest, I always thought Katherine looks like she's being ethereal while sucking a particularly unpleasant lemon, even in family photos that I certainly never actually got to see ....cough...no never. I'm just sorry for the kids because they're all three still so young.

Honestly, you never know what's going on in anyone else's marriage. I'm hesitant to cast stones.

Oh god, yes, there's no way of knowing, I just hope they work things out and the kids don't have too much drama to deal with since they're all still so young.

I'm so glad your bronchitis is better!!!

I hope Joe's kids are ok. And I don't understand the bit about the money. Is Katherine wealthy? But she want's him to pay her legal bills? I'm confused.

I think most of the time whoever files, at least in California, will ask for payment of legal fees. And if she's ticked off at him, hitting the spouse in the pocket book is a good tactic. I think it also depends on who has more money. Katherine's parents are wealthy New Yorkers (her father ran East Coast Shipping, one of the biggest mercantile marine operations in the world). But she hasn't actually worked-worked since they got married, so I'm sure she has less in the way of independent income than Joe does, between residuals from acting, plus his business interests (multiple), inheritances, and trust fund money. Also, California is a community property state, which means unless they come to an agreement OR they had a prenup agreement (unlikely), the court can split things up 50/50. And there's child support and spousal support which again, go by a formula that determines who has the bigger income. This could take several years to sort out.

I think a long-time marriage ending is really sad, especially since their kids are just 13, 11 and 7. I hope they work everything out amicably with a minimum of drama.
