I sent her an email. Email provides distance, as I do not want to be drawn back into her melodrama.

And you sent her an email ... to say "what do you want?" or ...? I'll admit, I am morbidly curious about what she wants. And yeah, she might be mad at you. After all, you weren't supposed to go out and do poodle showing without her. You need her.
