Iris Weather

I love most of the flowers as they bloom, but I ESPECIALLY love iris. A few blooms, just the color of my icon, are lovely in the bed beside the garage ( Read more... )

I planted some iris bulbs late this year and the leaves came up but not the flowers. But I looked at them closely yesterday and I think a few late flowers may be happening.

Lunch with special friends...priceless!

Irises usually wait a year to bloom after they've been planted. They'll probably be gorgeous next year.

Yes, that's true but there are several flowers forming!
These are narrow-leaved iris, not the traditional wide-leaf kind. I wonder if that makes a difference. Also, they're growing in a huge flower pot and not right in the ground.

Kevin has given us a few Irises and they are spectacular! We have them at both houses. I love that you can pick them for a bouquet and all of the buds will eventually bloom. We also have some (like in my icon) that we have had for years. They do beautifully.

My grandmother's name was Iris, and she loved them. I do tend to think of her when I see them.
